I know you probably aren’t in the market for another pair of gloves, but if you google “touchscreen gloves” you’ll find some that could eliminate the need for your nasal improvisation.
You’re right. I truly adore my gorgeously sumptuous calf skin gloves, but they aren’t gloves I have to wear to work at 5:30 in the morning where the only person who sees them is the cashier at Dunkin’ Donuts. Something more utilitarian would definitely make more sense. Still … LOL
Interesting, but I could never mar my calf skin gloves doing that. Buying separate gloves is probably better for me. Thanks for the info, though. It taught me something!
I think that using your tongue to type would be easier than your nose. And you just might meet new friends as a bonus.
Apparently ‘nose typing’ is a thing, albeit with a mechanical keyboard. Perhaps the OP may one day rise to this level of greatness…
Yuck! ![]()
Are you kidding me?! LOL
At first I thought that maybe he doesn’t have any arms, which would be a good reason to develop an alternative manual method, but I see he’s just doing it for chuckles!
No, thanks, I concede. I’ll buy the gloves instead.
Better to cut off the index tip of an XXL-sized rubber glove (for dishwashing). Leave it in the car, put it on (over your new gloves) before driving and remove it when you get to your destination.
Don’t know if it’ll actually work, though.
There’s also something like a rubber thimble that I’ve seen used by people who have to work with paper documents.
This wouldn’t work for me. My dad stole my nose when I was 2 years old and he never gave it back.
As for answering the phone you should be able to select the “Up Volume” button to do it. Sooo much easier then requiring two hands for a swipe. Just squeeze the button as you pick up the phone.
I have been doing this for ages with my Apple Watch. It helps with things like timers and alarms going off when my hands are otherwise occupied. Never thought about the glove issue, but it definitely makes sense and the nose will do the trick.
What about voice commands? How old is your car? Does your phone not pair up with your car? Or just voice commands directly to your phone.
For operating the touch screen on the phone, you might try a Tool Pen, which comes with a stylus on the top. Looks like a good selection here . I got mine at a paper shop – one of those places that has cards, wrapping paper, stationery and so on. Maybe keep it in the cup holder or wherever you park your gloves.
I second the poster who suggested hooking the phone up to your car entertainment system via Bluetooth. My 2022 RAV4’s touch screen works when I am wearing driving gloves when changing radio stations, answering the phone, etc.
BTW I wear these just about all the time in Melbourne. Otherwise the backs of your hands (the right in particular in my case) get a lot of sun exposure. Obviously the left hand will get the extra sun for those driving on the left hand side of the road.
I’ve toyed with the idea of using double-stick tape to stick a small piece of foil to my glove’s fingertip. The only reason I haven’t is because my car has a remote starter to warm it up, and my commute is only 12 minutes. And it’s reasonable temperate here.
