One of the (many) problems with Trumps lying and bullying - and not only getting away with it but flourishing through it - is that it empowers others to do the same.
The NRA is always a little over the top but this new ad looks like it was written by the White House. Disgusting.
That is fear and hate mongering. To watch that you would think our streets are awash in daily violent riots against the country-loving freedom-embracing decent people of our society. This ad creates a spectre of an enemy that doesn’t exist. It is just trying to get people angry over a phantom opposition. Let’s get guns and shoot all the protestors.
Nah – typical NRA. Take things that are a little true, blow them out of all proportions, and then make it sound like you are the only one who can rescue us. They have done it for almost as long as I’ve been alive. And after they split into the NRA/NRA-ILA it isn’t unexpected.
Yes. Ironically, gun sales go down when there is a pro-gun president and vice versa. Sales are down now. So I guess they need to create an artificial crisis.
False equivalency. The work by an author (and a film produced a studio) is not the same thing as an ad produced by a lobbying group that has real political power in the US.
“Gutter slut?” Is that supposed to be a metaphorical description, or are we supposed to believe that she is actually sexually promiscuous in the street? Would you use the same term for a man?
Then there’s “white trash.” What is it specifically that makes her fit this description? Because you disagree with/don’t like her?
The ad is certainly fear-mongering. You have other issues, apparently, aptly presented by your user name.
Too simplistic. Unless you live in the US, it’s hard to understand the influence that the NRA has. Saying that an ad put out by an organization that puts the fear in politicians (both Republican and Democratic) is propaganda akin to a film based on a comic book really shows a misunderstanding of American politics.
I saw this video the other day posted on their Facebook page (linked from someone else, I don’t follow the NRA myself) and made the choice to check out the comments.
To my surprise, it was 99% people saying the ad was horrifying and disgusting. And that was gun owners talking. I was quite pleased.
Not that I think gun owners would be applauding this shit but trolls be trollin, I was surprised how few trolls/nuts there were.
So, bravo gun owners! You really stepped up and told the NRA “no” on this (at least the few hundred comments I managed to read)
I dropped 25 bucks last year for a membership just to get the NRA’s hilarious, over the top, insanely paranoid news letters (hey, it was an election year) which feature Wayne “Let Freedom Ring” LaPierre begging for cash for all sorts of neurotic/delusional reasons.
I’d like to think that some of my funds went to firearm training courses for new gun enthusiasts. The NRA is well known for their training courses regarding responsible gun ownership. Unfortunately, safe firearm training is not what first comes to mind when readers see the letters “NRA”, which is what this thread is all about.
So I looked her up, I had assumed she was some hireling actress.
However she’s rather unusual: a Texan, a Republican who voted for Ted Cruz, sharing as they do that devout old-time Southern Baptist faith, married to [del]Christopher Lasch[/del] Chris Loesch, a pro-gun composer, worked for Breitbart.com ( later sued ), co-founded a Tea Party, has a TV show on Glenn Beck’s TheBlazeTV, and says it like it is like a modern Pankhurst or Eleanor Roosevelt, In January 2012, Loesch spoke on her show in defense of U.S. Marines videotaped urinating on the corpses of dead Taliban fighters, commenting that "I’d drop trou and do it, too. That’s me though. I want a million cool points for these guys (Marines). Is that harsh to say? Wikipedia
