Just saw it yesterday, and… excuse the pun… it was incredible. Very, very, very awesome. Go see it! shoos
Well… I dunno about Jason Todd.
Maybe if he was prepared, beforehand.
What if Syndrome can get Batman with that force-field thingy before he starts gloating? Huh? How does Batman get out of that one, smart guy?
Same way everyone else did. While Mr. Incredible was certainly a good-hearted fellow, he sure didn’t strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, and he was paralyzed by the glowy-force-field thingy several times in the movie…
…and you’ll notice who got his ass handed to him at the end of the movie. Tell me Batman couldn’t do better than that.
I really liked the movie. I especially liked the overall design of the film. The house they lived in, the cars they drove, the villian’s lair, really great design work on the film.
My only gripe is that the psuedo james bond villian music sounded exactly like teh psuedo james bond villian music from Austin Powers.
Oh and Elastic Girl is really sexy. She is definitly on the top of MILF list.

The baby was an elemental, he can change into any element but of course being a baby he doesn’t have great control. There is an hilarous series of phone messages from the babysitter
I’m not the biggest fan of Pixar in general. Toy Story was okay but that’s about all I enjoyed. The brief synopsis of my feelings on them is that they look great but any humour in them just doesn’t work on me. And unless the humour is top notch, I’m just not a huge fan of talking animals. I don’t know why.
With that said, I loved this movie. The humour suited me perfectly and I was in stitches on more than one occasion Also, like others have said, I thought the animation was great which isn’t anything new for pixar…I mean before now I’ve never been a fan but I really have to give them their due. I thought they picked great voices for their characters, all of which suited the characters very well. The story was simple, in the good sense, but was told with originality.
There is really very little I didn’t like. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.
More Frozone. less Syndrome.
Nobody except the techno-villain got any backstory.
Bomb Voyage is still on the loose.
Edna’s nuts. Capes are cool.
How does a stretchy lady and a strong guy give birth to an invisible girl, a super-speedster AND a shapeshifter? This is worse than The Munsters’ birth of Eddie.
No super-pets?
Hmmmm…I guess they’ll need to do a sequel.
The cape thing was hilarious.
This would be more interesting:
Batman vs. Edna Mode!!
We saw it.
it was gripping.
When we came out of the movie, my 6-year-old said “That was the best action movie I’ll probably ever see.”
It definately earned the PG rating. The skeleton of one of the terminated Supers was a little shocking. But it was a great movie. Did any of the rest of y’all get a free poster with your tickets?
I didn’t get a poster
I just got back from seeing it. It was a blast. I went in expecting a cute little movie. I got way more that I expected. Sis and I were laughing and elbowing each other through the whole movie. Off the top of my head I can’t think of one thing that I didn’t like about it.
Whole company went to see it – well, except for a few poor bastards left on the computers to take tickets.
The entire audience (we rented a theater) cracked up when Edna started ranting about capes. Not only is it (possibly) a sly wink to Watchmen fans, it hit home for all us City of Heroes people.
to explain: we only recently got capes in City of Heroes. For a game about superheroes you’d think they’d be on the top of the list with, you know, super powers and spandex just above them.
Saw it this morning at a 10am(!) matinee. Absolutely loved it, though I think I missed a third of the jokes because I had to alternate my attention from watching the movie and keeping my son from fidgeting during the “boring” (non-slam-bang-action) bits.
I think the easiest way to describe it is 2/3rds the warmth of Finding Nemo with half of a James Bond film grafted on instead. While I’m not sure I’d rate it as the most awesome Pixar film of all time (Choose? CHOOSE?! I can’t choose, dang it! ), it’s certainly the tops of the list for jaw-dropping spectacles.
One thing’s for sure – nobody can accuse Pixar of being formulatic now.
There was one part of the movie I didn’t get, though:
What was the significance of the word “kronos”? I know Mr. Incredible sees it etched on the cave wall, and later uses it as a password for Syndrone’s computer, but how are the two related?
Regarding super-powers,
I really loved the idea of Dash and Violet working together in the jungle – a high-speed indestructible energy ball pinballing through the jungle and taking out bad guys. With the fight in the city, I was hoping to see the Incredibles use their powers together in another creative “merge” to take down the Omnidroid, and was a tad disappointed they didn’t.
And I would have loved to see more of Frozone, though admittedly there weren’t more places for him to be squeezed into the story.
After the movie, my brother and I had this exchange–
“Man, they could easily make a regular series out of this.”
“And that’s why Pixar is so cool, because they don’t.”
I wanna see it again! Hey, my wife missed out – I must bravely volunteer to accompany her…
My theatre was giving out posters and little packs of trading cards for the kids.
I don’t know for sure… but “Kronos” was the name of the Greek Titan who fathered Zeus. Kronos didn’t want anyone to be more powerful than him, so he ate his own children, except Zeus, who later overpowered and killed him, IIRC. Metaphor for what Syndrome expects to do to Mr. Incredible?
I figure a sequel’s a foregone conclusion. I just hope they don’t try to turn it into a half-baked TV series for the kiddies.
I’ve heard lots of people griping about how capes only recently came into City Of Heroes. I figured it was due to the difficulty of rendering any kind of realistic cape physics. Why spend time and money working out capes until you’re sure the game will succeed and be profitable?
Loved it! Giving the family a secret identity that’s completely mundane (“par” even) was a great touch. Edna’s Fashion Fortress was great, especially the statue out front and her goldfish tank/“fireplace” wall sculpture. Bob’s boss displaying obvious signs of OCD – and using Wallace Shawn (aka Vizzini) for the voice – were great choices. And can I just say that Holly Hunter’s voice made Elasti-Girl totally hot?
I do have one question…
Since the movie, my little 3 year-old has been calling Mr. Incredible “Showtime”. Does he say anything like that during the movie?
Mr. Incredible might have said, “Showtime!” right before he an Elasti-Girl get married in the chapel, as he pushed open the chapel doors. Can anyone else confirm?
Was I the only one who thought of the Endor Speeder-Bike scene in Return of the Jedi during the Dash running through the jungle scene? I thought the movie was totally fun, and I am glad my kids saw it too.
After the movie, we ran around outside and all pretended to be members of the Incredible family. It works out pretty well because my daughter is older than my son. (I guess we’re missing the baby though). It took a good hour after bed time before they were calmed down, so thats about as ringing of an endorsement as my kids can give.
I thought about that, as well. I also thought the part where Mr. Incredible is strangling Mirage as she was trying to tell him his family was still alive was reminiscent of Chewbacca strangling Lando in Empire.
And I was quite disappointed that, for some reason, our theater did not show the Episode III trailer. I’ve seen it online, but I really wanted to see it on the big screen.
