The Office (02/05)

So what do you do when a preview splashes on the screen the night of a broadcast? Or when it pops up on a web page? Or when someone mentions it at work? I mean, previews are “out there”. They’re already exposed, just like the show.

Do you cover your eyes every time you see any kind of promo or advertisement for anything?

As a general rule, the network isn’t going to spoil anything important in a promo, but if your spoiler aversion is that strong, it’s not incumbent on everyone else in the world to humor it. All of these episode discussions include open spoilers, and promos for upcoming episodes are commented on routinely. If you don’t want to risk finding out what happened in a commercial, then don’t open the threads.

Would a liar bring mini-Mounds?

Loved the Squeaky Fromme reference.

Could anyone see who was on the three-dollar bill?

It looked like George W. Bush to me.

Funny how we saw both Kelly and Stanley abruptly going from furious to calm and responsive.

Yep, with Stanly we all know why he has to be calm, but with Kelly it’s probably because she has some minor issues “up there”. I wonder if we’ll find out what she went to juvie for.

“I just hate knowing someone out there doesn’t like me…Even Al Qaeda! I bet if they got to know me they’d like me!”

“But…Karen knows me, and she doesn’t like me.”

Please people, this is a sit com. Karen is lying. She has a fake photo of a fake husband for everyone around the office and Jim is the father. Too much gold not to mine later.

Anyone realize how the husband was a tall lanky dude just like Jim? I don’t think Karen is completely or was completely over Jim at the time. The hot dog and burger pic was pretty cute though.

Agreed. You could tell by the look on her face when Pam told her that she and Jim are engaged. She looked unhappy at first and then made the best of it and gave Pam a hug.

She (Karen) totally, VISIBLY flinched when Pam said she and Jim were engaged.

Would that work with the timeline of the show? I’m trying to think of how long has passed since Karen left D-M…

I liked this episode much better than the last one. Man, I really miss Karen being on the show. I can’t wait for next week’s!

Karen didn’t leave D-M, she just moved to another branch. Nobody would ever inflict Michael as a motivational speaker on someone outside the company, after all.

But no, the baby being Jim’s just doesn’t work with the timeline of the show. She’s about 8 months, she said, so that would have put her getting pregnant in early summer, which is when Pam left for her art program. And Jim and Pam had been together for a whole season before that,so I’d put it at about a year and a half. Unless Jim is cheating and there have been no indications at all up till now, baby can’t be his.

However, a year and a half is a really, really short time to meet someone, get married, and be 8 months pregnant. I kinda wonder if the wedding was of the shotgun variety.

The show is less funny because of Michael. Seriously, I cringe every time he’s on screen now. He’s turned into latter-day Homer Simpson, and I can’t keep suspending my disbelief.

The problem is, the show would still work, and work better, without Michael, and a whole bunch of people are seeing that; however, NBC will never, ever go that route.

Karen was my favorite character third season and I was so mad when Jim left her.

Except possibly Ryan

No way Dunder-Mifflin wouldn’t have a corporate newsletter that has announcements like weddings in it. Both my husband’s and my companies put our wedding in their newsletter. DM isn’t that big. Everybody would have known Karen got married.

I got a nice chuckle out of Dwight’s McCoy line when Jim said they’d only raised $6…

“Dammit, Jim!”
