Hmm. Certainlly he seized the opportunity for Pam, but he didn’t make fun of Michael when the latter was clearly moved (even one of his knowing looks to the camera).

Meredith is so funny! I think she and Captain Jack were about to get friendly when Michael ruined it with his announcement that the boat was sinking. That’s why she had her top off with the life preserver.
I loved this week’s episode. This is really just about the best show on TV, now that Monday Night Football is gone.
Carell’s acting is amazing. I’ve been watching him for years on The Daily Show, and I saw him on talk shows promoting The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and I saw the flick as well, and yet when I watch “The Office,” I still forget that I’m watching Steve Carell.
The scene with Jim and Pam on the ship’s deck was devastating. And Dwight’s compulsive attraction to authority figures just gets creepier.
When Jim started telling Mike (Carell’s character; isn’t his name Mike?) about Pam, I was actually shaking my hands at him, saying, “NO, don’t confide in him!” And then after the end, I looked at my wife and said, “Dammit. Why do they keep doing these things that make me like the boss?” His brief little speech to Jim was just perfect.
And then:
“It’s a fake steering wheel, dummy.”
I was surprised when I started watching this show. I was under the false impression that the boss was a tyrant.
Clearly, he is not. What I like about him is though he is cartoonish at times, Michael is a very well fleshed out character. If I had to sum him up in one word it would be “lonely.” You just believe Carell’s frustration.
Dwight clearly wants to be his best friend, yet Michael (wisely) avoids committing fully to his friendship.
But he obviously has watched Armageddon with him!
My favorite “Michael Moment” was when he was telling the story of him and his salesman buddy (the sports guy from Anchorman) meeting those two sisters.
“And we took them back to the hotel and he did them both!”
CLASSIC!
And the ratings were decent last night!
Still not great ratings, but improvement is improvement! Plus, NBC likes the demographic of the hardcore Office fans. Apparently, they are affluent. Keep pumping those episodes out!
Todd Packer, played by David Koechner.
“Who has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer? THIS GUY!”
“WL HUNG”
“So you are a big William Hung?”
“Why does everyone ask that?”
“…a big Willima Hung fan?”
DOH!
The Office is the only show on network TV that is on my Tivo. That show is brilliant.
I agree that if you like this show, you absolutely have to rent or buy the British version. It’s even better.
In the next episode Michael threatens to tell Pam about Jim’s feelings. He’s trying to “help.”
That should be good.
I get the names of the cast members not in the opeing credits. I get a lot of them confused.
So far I have identified:
Angela- Uber Bitch who is sneaking aroung with Dwight. (The camera pointing out the Baby Ruth to Pam was one of the funniest moments ever).
Kevin- Low brow go to guy for fat jokes and anal fissure jokes.
Stanley- Probably the best one. The black guy who has the ugliest dribble in the history if hoops. He is so removed from all the nonsense in the office.
The Indian Girl- I don’t know her name but she is really good at bringing out Michael’s racial insensitivity.
Meredith- The drunk who likes to take her clothes off.
The Mexican-American Guy- Is his name Oscar?
Roy- Pam’s dipshit fiancee.
The Black Guy in Shipping- The guy in shipping that is black.
The IT Guy- The muslim (or Indian) guy that Michael despises for some reason.
The old guy- The one who Michael couldn’t fire. Dutch?
Phyllis- The maternal figure in the office who will either give you an oven mitt…or a boner.
Todd Packer- Michael’s poonhound buddy.
Jan- I hear Michael made out with her!
Katy- Jim’s now ex-girlfriend (who got dumped in the harshest manner possible!)
Toby- The guy in HR who cracks me up.
I think I meant to combine those two sentences.
Kelly Kapur is the Indian girl (played by Mindy Kaling), Oscar is the Hispanic guy who works with Kevin and Angela, and Creed is the older guy who gave Jim the old shirt in Yankee Swap and talked Michael out of firing him. Devon was fired.
“The Indian Girl” is Kelly. She is played by Mindy Kaling.
“The Mexican-American Guy” is Oscar, played by Oscar Nunez.
“The Old Guy” that couldn’t get fired is Creed.
“The Black Guy in Shipping” is Darryl.
Jim(confessional): I think he forgot about the gift and grabbed something out of his closet.
Cut to Creed in his confessional:
Creed: That’s exactly what happened.
I LOVE THIS SHOW. I’ll be riding down the road and just start laughing.
Upon Pam and Roy setting a date:
Katy: “Do you think that’ll ever be us?”
Jim: “No.”
Note to self: never break up with someone in a place where you must stay with them for several hours.
Can I get a show of hands here? I think Jim was rushing back to tell Pam that he liked her (when he told the film crew she’s the one he’d save from a burning building), but my husband just thinks he was going back to hang out like usual. If it’s the former, I’m rather glad Roy interrupted, because while I sympathize, it would have been soooo tacky to do that in front of his date, and with Roy nearby!
Oh, just another example of the subtle brilliance of this show: The captain’s inspirational story of true love that provokes Roy to set the date is about his “first wife.” I bet a lot of people didn’t think about it, but it was clearly a deliberate writing choice to make a comment about the meaning of the captain’s story, and the true depth of Roy’s devotion.
When Jim told Michael about his feelings for Pam, at first I thought, “Of all the people to tell!”, but then I reconsidered. If Jim wants Pam to know, but doesn’t want to be the bad homewrecker guy, Michael is absolutely the best person he could tell. Surely Michael will run to her with the news and Jim doesn’t have to be the guy who poached the engaged girl.
I read in TV Guide yesterday that the Office may not be a broadcast hit, but it is one of the best selling iTunes downloads.
Apparently, over 100,000 downloads are credited to the Office at 1.99 each (I am responsible for 16 of those!)
While that is only $200,000(minus Apple’s cut), it is still a nice bit of side cash for NBC. Plus, Video iPods are still in the infancy phase. There is room for growth.
It is good to be #1.
Apparently, the theory once again goes back to Office fans being higher income viewers.
