Great episode
I love Kelly asking at the girl meeting, “What does it mean when Michael says he ‘got to 2nd base’ with you?”
Then she winks at the camera, obviously screwing with the whole meeting.

Okay, so I’ve only really watched it on and off. But is this the first time we learned that the receptionist has a fiancee? Is this the first that Jim(?) has heard of it?
I only started watching this season. I don’t know when Pam and Roy got engaged, or when Jim found out – must have been in the first season, because it’s been like that for all of this season anyway.
Pam and Roy have been engaged since the start; actually they’ve been engaged for three years, but only set a date on the “booze cruise” episode a few weeks ago (which may have been just drunk talk on Roy-the-asshole’s part, and was another in a long string of crushers for Jim).
I’ve been wondering how long the writers can keep the Jim/Pam tension going without some kind of resolution.
I think the writer’s are doing a great job keeping the romantic tension up (they even winked at it tonight with Michael’s speech at the end of needing the women for the sexual tension).
For all the jokes in this episode this episode was really just about setting up the showdown between Jim and …well himself over what to do about Pam.
My prediction is this season ends with Jim and Pam kissing, then season 3 premiere it isn’t mentioned at all with Jim and Pam no longer talking.
They’re doing a fantastic job so far.
The characters and situation are so freaking genuine it makes my teeth hurt; I would never have believed that such extreme naturalism could be so compelling to watch.
Outstanding episode. I’m glad that I have TiVo because I laughed for five minutes after seeing Michael’s face on the blow up doll.
Poor Pam breaking into tears.
Stanly’s running out the clock comment.
Now we’re going to have to wait a bit for the next episode because of the Olympics.
I’m hoping they hold off for a while, because it’s really the driving force behind the show. Also, the resolution at the end of the original Office is one of the all-time best TV moments of any show, and I’m kind of apprehensive about seeing the US version attempt it.
Also, the season’s going to be cut short so that Steve Carell can go off to make a movie.
“NEVER GIVE UP”
::SNIFF::
My two favourite bits (I don’t remember the exact lines):
(about all the women in the same room) “Their cycles will sync and mess up the plumbing”
“Here we are together. White collar, blue collar. But it doesn’t matter because I’m collar blind”
Good show.
9:30 is past my bed time so I have a tendency to nod off. There are a couple things I may have missed …
As the guys were leaving the office somebody said something like “We’re all men… sort of.” Who said it and who was it directed to? Who knows about the gay guy?
I loved the part where the straggler winks at the camera and closes the door rather than follow Michael and the rest to the warehouse. Did we ever see him again during the episode?
I think Micheal was just taking a shot at Toby the HR director whom he really dislikes. Toby actually works for corporte, not the Scranton Office, so he isn’t quite Micheal’s employee. There’s been lots of tension between them; Toby took away Michael’s corporate credit card, and ratted him out for soemthing earlier this season… I can’t remember what it was.
Again, that was Toby. We didn’t see him again. I love the way he just slipped out and probably spent the rest of the day finishing his work.
Dwight, on going down to the warehouse: “Remember on Lost when they met The Others?”
Yes, Kelly’s little wink to the camera was priceless. You got the feeling she’d been waiting for just the right moment to do that, and doing it in front of all the women was the perfect time.
I figured Toby slipped out and went home. We never did see him again.
How many more eps to go till the season ends?
I was hoping we’d see Toby at the end of the episode hanging out with the female warehouse employee.
Kelly’s little wink to the camera was my favorite moment too. I enjoyed how the women as a group pretty much ruined Jan’s meeting.
Ya know, as much as I love this show, there’s usually one moment in every episode that goes too far over the top. Having Michael completely wreck the warehouse at the end was just too much for me. He may be stupid, but I think he’d be smart enough to stop after everything else. If they could just hold back on these moments, they’d have a near perfect show.
I have mixed feelings about this. I think if they resolve the Jim/Pam tension too soon, it’s going to be the beginning of the end for this show. Ricky Gervais and the other creator (You know, Gareth’s friend. I can’t remember his name. Steven something?) have said that the Tim/Dawn (Jim/Pam) story is the central storyline of the show. The great part about the original is that it only lasted two seasons, plus the two specials, so people got what they wanted (Tim/Dawn resolution) fairly quickly without it being the show’s downfall. I have a feeling that, in the tradition of American shows, it will go on way too long. If they’re wise, Gervais & the other guy will make sure it ends where and when it’s supposed to. As much as I’d love to keep it around, I think the third season should be the show’s last. This is supposed to be a documentary, after all.
Missed the first half because we went to part of a Chick Corea concert (left after three numbers; he hasn’t improved with age). What was the deal with the brochure that Roy was showing Pam (or t’other way around)? Something about a house? Or. . .?
I agree with this almost 100%. But Michael really is the stupidest man on earth - encouraging the warehouse staff to unionize, indeed! I loved how he was hiding behind the mop when Jan came down to the warehouse and made her speech.
That was tremendous, the way she tries to account for herself as doing fine even though she wants more. And sticking with the engagement even though he is not supportive, because maybe she thinks that’s the best she can do.
What bugged me though, was Roy saying how he’s glad she and Michael talk at work so that she doesn’t want to come home and bore him with chatter about the office. I don’t like love triangles where it’s not at all clear why she’s with the first guy, and it’s so obvious she should be with the other. I think I haven’t seen it enough to know Roy’s redeeming characteristics.
