“We don’t know what’s going on inside the tiger’s head…we don’t have the technology”
I loved how Angela was content enough to be put in charge of the women, despite the fact that Dwight had shut down her belief that they would rule together.
I also loved the Call of Duty stuff and Jim’s coworker’s expressed intention to shoot him in real life because of his ineptitude at the game. I was a bit surprised at the idea that they would shut down everything to do that, but I also kind of liked that the Stamford branch isn’t going to be established as the place of all things good and wonderful.
Why is it that Pam shot Jim down twice? In the original office, Dawn shot Tim down presumedly because she was staying with her boyfriend. Pam isn’t, so what gives?
Maybe that’s why he became a dentist.
The Pam/Roy thing isn’t over yet. When he walked through the kitchen during the fashion show, she looked at him with something approaching undying love in her eyes.
You folks never worked in an office full of salesmen, I see.
The irony is that Dwight is the one who should have gone to Stamford. He is probably great at that video game and would have fit in way better there.
When Pam turned Jim down, she still intended to stay with Roy. Jim moved and then a few months later she cancelled the wedding.
As whipped as Dwight is by Angela, it’s clear from her reaction shot (post-reconciliation) that she still is second fiddle to Michael. Very funny episode, with Jim’s co-worker managing to turn unexpectedly hot with just that one little wave and stare after his departure. I’m really looking forward to how things continue to develop on this show.
We used to drop everything to play Frisbee in the corridor, fercrissakes. Salesmen take LOTS of breaks. Big ones.
My favorite line (from memory):
Stamford dude: “What the hell are you doing, man?”
Jim: “Just, you know, killing Germans…”
SD: “We are the Germans! That’s our team”
Jim: “Wait, it’s a team game?”
This little exchange shows that it’s not just that Jim isn’t good at the game (hand-eye coordination or whatever), but that he just doesn’t even get the fundamental concepts of it.
I imagine that no one ever even bothered to try to teach him or explain, they just assumed that he should know how to play.
I think this is further evidence that once they stop flying under Jan’s radar, the Stamford branch will be shut down and merged into Scranton.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens within the next few episodes. I thought everything on last night’s episode was really well-done, but there’s something a little clunky about setting the show in two separate businesses.
I got the opposite impression. I think she was royally pissed off by his power trip, and that seeing this side of his personality may cause her to question the whole relationship.
That was brilliant, the Dwight-Michael uncovering the traitor thing. We’ve seen that in countless movies but right now I can’t come up with a single title.
The look on Michael’s face when Dwight called him “Mike”.
Was that the “office drunk lady” from the British version who joined the cast?
When Dwight said “Krentist,” I had to pause so I could giggle for a few minutes. That stupid name and the look on his face were priceless.
And the Samford chick is gorgeous. I’m actually glad that we’re not going to sit around and watch Jim pine for Pam – obviously, he has feelings for her, but I like that he’s not being a doormat.
Really? I read it exactly the opposite. She loves following rules and loves authoritarian personalities. I thought she had a nice hint of a smile when Dwight told her she could rule the women, but was sickened by his toadying subservience when Michael revealed that he knew about Dwight’s power play, and when she saw him sitting and watching movies with Michael (a rule-breaking activity she was already revealed to hate). I think she would find someone on a power trip to be very appealing.
He was so bad at it that he was stuck in a corner just running at the corner. He’s so bad that he’s shooting his own teammates. I don’t take Jim as the type who couldn’t catch on if he wanted to, but he simply doesn’t want to. By now, he’s probably figured that it’s more fun simply to be bad at the game then take the effort to learn it.
You’ve brought up a very interesting point. She’d been a minor player before but with that one little coy smile she turned absolutely smokin’. It was real and it was spectacular. Yeah, this’ll be fumn to watch develop.
I like the prospect that Jim may have a new interest in Stamford. But…
It’s starting to look like The Office is going to Ross & Rachel us.
I agree, they are setting up Stamford to get shut down and some people moved to Scranton, a la the Brit version. Then we can watch Pam watching Jim dating Stamford Girl. That’ll be fun.
I loved seeing Jim’s avatar just running into a corner, because that is so me.
Also, maybe this was projection on my part, but did Jim almost get a little teary-eyed when he was feeling completely out of his element and overwhelmed? It’s like he’s got the sales stuff nailed, but socially he’s thinking, “what have I done?”
Angela’s “grow a pair” was a riot, but I loved the subtlety of her pushing Dwight to grab power, assuming they’ll rule together, and then being OK with being in charge of the women. Bless the writers, they let the characters run the show, rather than vice versa.
Best exchange:
Dwight: There’s a new Ann Taylor store nearby - I know you like their earrings.
Jan: . . . where is it?
Or David and Maddie us, but yeah, I’m worried about that too. They seem like they are more clever and creative than that, so I remain generally optimistic. But I will say to the writers: DON’T DO IT. Please.
