Office 11/9

Sooo if I understand things correctly,

Jim is going to be Dwight’s boss?!?

AWESOME!

Possibly, although

Jim’n’Pam could be involved in a love polygon of epic proportions

I loved Jim sending Dwight faxes from himself in the future.

Jim’s got a hell of a choice to make. I’m not so sure I’d choose Pam.

That will be interesting over the long haul but I’m really just excited for the moment Dwight finds out and the hell he’s put through thereafter.

And the shot of him booking across the office to knock away Stan’s coffee.

I don’t think he should, but he probably will. That’s how people are, and also how TV are.

Poor Ryan, stuck with Kelly after all.

Uh, that’s how “TV SHOWS” are. :smack:

I think I’m liking this new girl more than Pam, which I thought would have been impossible.

Faxes to Dwight from himself… from the future. That was a thing of beauty. And Jim’s response to the question “What are you doing?” just before that…

“Um… It’s kind of hard to explain.”

She admitted to herself that she liked Jim much faster than Pam did, which scores her some bonus points, even if she hasn’t made a move yet.

Same here. She’s really pretty awesome in her own way. She’s hot, funny, smart and cool. The kind of girl who could totally make a guy forget about a heartbreak. Right now I can’t even say that she would be the wrong choice for him. She’s not just a foil or a plot device. She’s likeable and sympathetic in her own right. Of Pam hems and haws anymore, he should just say the hell with it and take up with the hottie from Stamford.

And you’re forgetting the obvious - she enjoys playing “Call of Duty”!

God, Steve Carrell is good. I felt so sorry for Michael when Jan gave him the bad news, and when he was telling the staff. Completely unprofessional behavior, saying things like “This is so bad!” instead of being managerial. And the look on his face when he found out that Toby knew before him. I loved his little speech about how Stanleys and Phylisses don’t grow on trees. There were so many great Michael moments in this episode.

And then, at the end when he and Dwight are celebrating their supposed victory, even though they have no idea what they did.

Our power was off last night and I was chanting “Be back in time for The Office!” and scrunching my face like Hiro on Heroes to make it so. At about 8:32, power came back but it was a few more minutes until the satellite sorted itself out.

Jim would be Dwight’s boss? Where does Michael fit into the new hierarchy?

“WE DID IT! WE DID IT! Wait, how did we do it?”

What broke my heart was Toby’s bit. For just a moment he looked so happy and hopeful about something. And then he sank back into his glum hopeless face. :frowning:

I don’t like the typical NBC promo “The moment we’ve been waiting for, The Return of Jim” with the slomo hug between Pam and him. ugh.

Love polygon, eh? Pam, Roy, Jim, New Girl, Toby with an outside chance

I haven’t wanted to admit that, but yeah, I think I do, too.

ElzaHub and I both think she’s hot. And she’s charming and funny, too. I could see her with Jim.

I’m ashamed that I just admitted that after being on a major Jim/Pam high all summer.

Let’s see Jim kiss Karen, and then I’ll make a final decision.

E.

I loved Ryan breaking up with Kelly, as if working different jobs was a reason not to date. He’s ballless, she’s clueless. It’s a perfect match.

I had no idea what Cinderella song Roy was talking about. Not that it matters - shallow 80s hair metal bands and Roy go hand-in-hand.

I felt for Michael, right before he got the news. As incompetent a manager as he is, he cares about his similarly incompetent staff.

This was the best episode in what has been a slyly great season. I say sly because no one individual episode (until this one) stands out as a classic, but overall the entire season has formed a nice story.

I really liked the Stamford branch plot. I look forward to its continuation in Scranton.

I agree with Red Barchetta that I am kind of rooting for Quincy Jones’s daughter. I am optimistic, because it is a sophisticated show like the Office, that they will make it difficult for Jim to choose. Most other shows would turn new girl into a bitch or have her cheat so the audience has an emotional life raft when Jim picks Pam (which we know is inevitable). But I think the Office won’t do that. When Jim broke up with salesgirl, it was because he was just being a dick. Only a show like the Office could make a will they/won’t they storyline MORE interesting after the BIG MOMENT.

Good stuff.

What I liked about this episode:

  • Stanley’s dismay when his job was saved.

  • Ryan’s True Love.

  • Lingering animosity from Dwight’s coup attempt (ok…that episode was also a classic).

  • The classic workplace restaurant debate.

  • Any scene with Ed Helms (I hope he comes on board).

Don’t Know What You Got…Till It’s Gone? It is a classic hair metal anthem.

The line where he asks if he is a relocate or a severance was nice acting. As much as I like Tony Shaloub, Carrell deserved the Emmy.

So far, it’s tracking closely to the British version of the story, with much more development of some aspects. So, if it does continue this way:

Jim and the new girl will flirt and date a bit, but Jim will continue to be primarily interested in Pam. Pam, for some completely incomprehensible reason, will continue to be interested in Jim while also rejecting any approach by him.

I miss all the fretting about “redundancies”!

This depressed me…I immediately thought of Joni Mitchell. A true geezer moment.

Also in the Brit version, the Pam character gets back with her ex, she quits and they move to America temporarily. If the series follows the Brit line, Michael will be fired, Jim will refuse the boss slot, and Dwight will take over the branch. Penis ensues.
