The Office: 11/16 (open spoilers)

That “Lazy Scranton” orientation video! It made me wonder how well the shredder would grind up videotapes.

What was funny was that Dwight paused for half a beat and goes, “but, I’m number three, right?”

It was like the time Homer put a gallon and half of starter fluid on the barbeque grill and then lit the match.

Great episode. Very funny, but also just right in it’s dramtic bits. They don’t always find the exact balance, but last night they did, and now they’ve added a lot more characters.

Ed Helms is very funny as Andy so far. When he started in with the Roxbury music.

The Blair Witch Office bit was funny. Steve Carrell almost killed this show in the very first episodes, but he’s been perfect since.

Excellent episode.

I didn’t see it that way. She wanted to go out for coffee and he said ‘no’. Then in the parking lot, he made a point of telling her that he’s seeing someone. I thought it was a bit childish of him to “test” her. The look on his face after she said, “Oh…we’re friends, right?” said to me that he wanted her to tell him she loved him or at least tell him she wanted to date him. What else was she supposed to say after that, but “Oh, okay”?

Count me as another that thought the look on Stanley’s face was the funniest moment of the show…or maybe the evening (besides Joy’s “nut cancer” comment on Earl).

OK, this was very, very good, but for me the best line of the night gors, once again, to Creed.

I only thought it was excessive because I work for one of Staples’ competitors! No, it’s not Dunder-Mifflin.

Andy’s “Never break off a handshake” rule kind of backfired on him. He hadn’t reckoned with Dwight.

For some reason, Dwight’s bit in the video, “Little cars go in the compact spot!” cracked me up completely.

Since breastfeeding is near and dear to my heart, I liked the bit with the poor new lady having to pump at her desk. We know that Ryan is just distracted by the noise and a little weirded out, and then they open up the shot to show Creed just openly ogling (and taking pictures, as it turns out). Classic Creed.

Phyllis wearing pine-derived perfume - so perfect. BTW, if the Vance Refrigeration guys are around, does that mean they did lease the warehouse, or is it just they’ve always been in the same building?

I missed the last bit of the show because it ran into Grey’s Anatomy, which my friends wanted to watch :frowning:

Good for Jim for moving on. It should be interesting watching Pam wallow for a while. Not forever though, ok writers? Please please please don’t go Ross and Rachel on us.

I was pretty sure the universe was going to collapse in on itself when Andy and Dwight met, or at least enter a new dimension. So, Dwight’s got a new Enemy #1.

When’s Oscar coming back. Soon, right? He can’t be on vacation in Europe forever!

I remain unsure about the Stamfor Hottie. The scene where Jim gets her to leave a voice mail greeting in a heavy accent makes me think that she will soon get tired of his playfulness.

I love the tension with Jim, Pam, and Karen. This is probably the most realistic love triangle I’ve ever seen on TV. I think Pam has taken a lot of things for granted when it comes to Jim. He’s always been the guy who has had a crush on her and she could take advantage of how that made her feel without having to take it to the next level. He’d pour his heart out to her and she always had the excuse that she was with Roy and they were getting married. Now she’s rejected him one time too many. He’s still her friend, but no longer adores her as he once did (at least not outwardly). She’s going to have to decide if she’s willing to let him move on with Karen or fight for him. Or go back to Roy. Good stuff, and very true-to-life, I think.

My husband cracked up at that part because that’s what he pictures me doing at work  - sitting out in the open, pump and boob out (I pump in whatever office is empty). He was like “You don’t have a Creed in your office, do you?”.

Loved this episode and I’m back on the Pam wagon again…I felt so bad for her last night. I don’t know if Jim was intending to be jerky or not, but it came across that way.

I still like Karen a LOT, though.

E.

I’m just not buying the Creed character anymore. It’s not like he just has the minor quirks of the other characters. He’s WAY over the line.

The line that had me rolling was Michael’s desperate, “I’m in his CRACK!”

How many other shows can juxtapose material like that - and Creed, Stanley, and Dwight I&II - with the effectively portrayed emotion of Pam constantly rethinking and regretting countless past actions and missed opportunities. Or even the deadpan sympathetic portrayal of the large guy who just couldn’t get on the table.

By far my favorite show these days. Anyone else agree with me that Office has dramatically improved as Earl has plateaued or even declined?

I was a little nervous at the end of the episode thinking “what have they done? There’s just way too many characters on this show now.” But I think the producers want it to look like this. Every shot showed an extra person crammed into the little office for every exsisting one to increase the tension. Everyone’s sitting on top of eachother.

And while the show has made a leap in character developments I do miss old Jim who flirts with Pam and harasses Dwight everyday. Now he has no reason to do either. :frowning:

This is probably a nitpick worthy of the Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip thread, but it’s not realistic for Kevin to have a Staples-brand shredder. They’ve previously identified Staples as one of their biggest competitors, so I very much doubt they buy office supplies there.

They’re a paper supply company. For them not to patronize a competitor, they’d need to buy their supplies form an office supply company that doesn’t sell paper. Does such an thing exist?

Wait, no. They should be buying office supplies from an office supply company they sell paper to.

Which company was it that Michael made a deal with durring the convention?

The Hammermill brand of International Paper. (And, by the way, when he announced the contract, Jan mentioned that Hammermill was exclusive to Staples to that point, so the show’s promotional agreement with Staples has been going on for a while.)

Staples.

Okay, I’m wrong ;). I could’ve sworn it was Staples that Michael made the deal with.
