Well, here it is, graduates. Have at it.
BA, Mathematics, San Francisco State University. Commencement is May 27th.
It took me 13 freakin’ years total to get my BA, NOT counting the four+ years I spent at UCLA before dropping out. Working FT and taking classes oooonnnneee cllllaaaassss aaaaattttt aaaaa tiiiiiiiiimmmmeeee is TORTURE. I finally made it, though. And you bet I’m throwing a huge, drunken mess of a party. Well, a huge drunken mess by 44 YO standards anyway…
Wow. Taking a class at a time as you work full time? That’s like some form of sophisticated punishment. Congrats, though.
UC Berzerkeley, BS(EECS). Made it out alive, and on time, a little battered but not really much the worse for wear. I walk on Saturday morning, kick around for four weeks or so, and start work on June 15.
A BA in Journalism from the University of Lincoln.

Well, I’m getting my degree for English. In America, that means I get to serve french fries to customers in the drive through window.
Would you like to supersize that?
Congrats to all you Grads! mojave66 extra congrats to you, cause it’s been a long time a’comin’!
(In broken voice)
Excuse me, sir, but we don’t super size any more. I’ll have to ask my manager.
Heehee! Aw, come on. It’s not that bad. With my English degree I got this really cool job that allows me to post here all day.
Doesn’t pay worth shit though.
BA, UC Davis, in Psychology and Asian American Studies.
Commencement on June 17. I’m so excited!!
And since the SO probably won’t post here of his own volition, TonyF is getting a BS, UC Davis, in Computer Science and will be at the same commencement.
PARTY TIME!!
That second part is the problem. I don’t mind making shitty money initially, but I want advancement, dammit. I’m pretty confident that if I get in somewhere, I can make it up, but I’m not entirely sure where that first door might be.
Stupid careers grumble
Gotta brag on my oldest son! BA in Japanese “with distinction” (honors), magna cum laude, from Ohio State. Leaving 2 days after graduation for Japan with the U.S. Navy. (Top graduate in his ROTC class, ranked 11th in the nation)
Very good, pudytat71! You must be rather proud.
I’m surprised nobody’s popped in here clamoring for pictures.
It turns out I won’t graduate unless my lecturers stop their strike.
This sucks ass.
MBA UGA
Hm. What’s the deal with that?
Hm. What’s the deal with that?
I graduated a few years ago, but I’ll post here to congratulate my brother, who finished up college (magna cum laude) on Saturday.
One of the unions have decided they want better pay. So they had a strike a few months ago, but still didn’t get the offer they want. So now some lecturers are refusing to mark work and exams. Without the marks, we can’t graduate.
My graduation is a little late because of the clinical internship part of the program, which only finishes June 2nd. After that, I have my big scary certification exam on June 13th (look forward to a panic thread about that one in the next couple of weeks!) and then I’m all done! After that point, I will be an authentic medical technologist!
Then I get to do the scary exam all over again, as I try to get certified to work in the States.
I’ve got a job lined up already, and will be starting at the hospital a few days after the exam. After 20 years of school, I will finally know the real world. It seems sort of big. Big and scary. I’m not going to know what to do with my time, when I don’t have to be studying for exams anymore.
