CNN: Visitors struggle ‘to see Obama’s head’
Rather than everyone starting a new thread when something fun/funny/interesting happens, let’s keep things tidy by all posting in one place. Like, say, here.
I just turned on the TV (had a couple of work things to get out of the way). I’m going to be doing CBS today, since I don’t have cable. I don’t hate Katie Couric, and they have Bob Schieffer and Jeff Greenfield, both of whom I like a lot.
Who else is watching, and what channel are you on?
CNN
I can’t believe the number of people they’re packing into the space.
I’ve got NBC on (no cable here, either).
I have to go to work later, though. I don’t have to leave till 12:15 or so, but I’m planning on running out to the car shortly before noon so I can hear the swearing-in and his speech.
(Plus, I have to scrape all the damn ice off of it - I can start the car and listen while it warms up)
There’s a chance I’d have to go to DC today, and at first I was dreading it, but my (work) partner and I decided that it wouldn’t be all that bad - getting caught in traffic would kill the whole day!
I’m watching on NBC.
That’s a LOT of people. I’m going to enjoy this.
Biden will be sworn in in a few minutes. I assume he’s not being asked to speak.
I’m watching on ABC. They’re showing all the security that goes into this event. They said there are 2 million people at the inauguration!
Was it just me, or did Hilary Clinton look like an alien when stepping out of her car?
I’m on CBS. (No cable here either.) Thanks for starting this thread, twickster!
We skipped MiniWhatsit’s preschool today so that I wouldn’t have to be in the car during the swearing-in. She has been parked next to me on the couch watching, for the most part.
cnn and msnbc.
the crowd is unbelievable!
gold, huh, i would have never thought that. mrs. obama looks great in it, and i hope it is warm.
can’t wait to see the kidlets and first grandmum.
In about 45 minutes, our whole school will be tromping down to the gym to watch. They have the Big Screen that we use at graduation set up at one end. Joy. 85 minutes with a bunch of bored high school students. If my room was wired for cable, it could be a teaching moment. As it is, however…
But I’ll still try, dammit!
For anyone interested in watching without commentary, I’m watching this:

The number of people is just entirely unreal.
NBC showed Michelle presenting Laura with some sort of “parting gift” when the two couples met on the White House steps. She got out of the limo and handed Laura a big white box wrapped with a bow. Classy lady, that Michelle!
What do you guys think about her dress? I think it’s cool - very Jackie O.
For the first time in my life, I kinda feel sorry for Dick Cheney. He looks a little silly in the wheelchair, and it’s obvious he knows it…
Nice new limos from Cadillac.
Heh. I still remember watching JFK’s inauguration with my mom, and drawing a picture of him in his top hat. (I was 6, I don’t think I’ll be doing any drawing today.)
i saw that and thought “how nice, a pressie!” mrs bush passed it off to someone. i guess she will open it up later.
i thought the dress was gold coloured, but wolf blitzer informed me that it is maize. i like the outfit.
I streaming BBC world on a laptop connected to a open test wireless connection(it pays to work in IT sometimes )
Sitting at my desk with earphones in with the laptop beside me.
I set up another one at the request of management in the main area so others in the deptartment can watch it.
he also has a cane with him. i wonder if he will poke people with it. i can see him doing that.
That’s a nice ride Obama’s got there. How much does it cost for one of those fully loaded, rocket proof Caddies?
