The Official Inauguration-Watching Thread

That would’ve been funny for him to spend about 25 minutes listing every religion under the sun…

“And then we’ll pull that hand away at the last minute and thumb our nose! Gotcha ya!”

ETA: Wiki is already updated. Man, I love the Internets.

He went full tilt for Shakespeare at the end.

I’m watching on PBS and it was nice to not have know-nothing natterers prattling on for the sake of hearing themselves speak.

And here I am, feeling great schaudenfreude about it, after 8 years of the needs of Americans with disabilities being largely ignored by this administration. Also, the lack of common sense is astounding. Elderly men with bad hearts shouldn’t be moving boxes. When they do and get hurt…

Was that unkind? Sorry.

Barack’s speech kicked butt.

I’m half-expecting him to do that comedic tug-at-the-shirt collar nervous thingy.

Bush does look a tad chagrined to my eyes.

“However, if you prefer to keep your fist clenched … Terrorist Fist Bump! Boo-yah!!”

I wish he’d given a shoutout to the Tree-hugging vegans for Eris. They always are ignored.

Any transcript of the speech for the TV impaired?

Haven’t had a chance to read the whole thread- don’t know why I didn’t take a personal day- but
Our long national nightmare is over!

The last bit after the G. Washington quote was fucking awesome.

I’m fucking bawling here. That was a great speech, especially the closing.

I liked the “open your fist” line too.

Yeah, that was good. He did a good job.

A setting like this really shows how poetry suffers for not rhyming. Lady sounds like the old-style telephone time and weather automated telephone service.

Here you go.

I am not loving this poem.

What the? This poem follows up the great speech? Sounds like word association.

Ha, make up your mind, Chief Justice! Execute the office of President to the United States faithfully? Faithfully execute the office? Office faithfully the execution?

Barack’s speech was far more poetic and beautiful than this lady’s poem.

edit: Man, I feel really embarrassed for her. This is ridiculously bad.
