I figured I’d start a new NRA thread, instead of folding them all into the gun or Stupid Republican threads.
In today’s news, after denying they have ever received any money from Russians, the NRA has started admitting that yes, they are taking money from Russians.
Also, one lifetime member of the NRA is Russian bank official Alexander Torshin, who is on the list of Russian oligarchs who were sanctioned by Trump last week.
The NRA recently came out againsta bill in Louisiana that would ban students bringing replica guns to school. the bill said nothing about owning replicas, and said nothing at all about real guns; just that students would not be allowed to carry replicas at school.
“House Bill 43, was aimed at helping law enforcement combat what officials call a growing problem – students bringing toy guns to public schools that look identical to the real thing.
Banning the guns, [Rep. Dodie Horton, R-Haughton] said, would help prevent police from having to make a split-second call, and injure or kill a student wielding a lookalike pistol.”
The Louisiana Sheriff’s Assoc was backing the bill.
The NRA was against the bill because it promoted anti-gun thinking.
“Now the legislation is dead, a victim of Republican infighting and the politically potent National Rifle Association.” [ibid]
