The Omnibus Trump Pit Thread

Up until yesterday, Republicans and Republican presidential candidates were defending his right to say fucked up shit. What could have swayed them so thoroughly and suddenly? Ah, he said something about one of them. Whine indeed, with a side of crying towel.

No, they were waiting for Trump to say something like this, and they’re ecstatic. Finally he said something beyond the pale even for Republicans.

Beyond the pale about Republicans at least. I guess it’s commandment 11B. Thou shalt only besmirch the service records of Democrats.

I still defend his right to say stupid shit and to say it on a debate stage as well. Criticizing and shaming people is fine. Running them out of public life is something that conservatives should never do. Trump should have his say and let the voters decide.

From what I can tell, the other Republicans are mostly just “criticizing and shaming” him.

Except for Perry, who says he should leave the race. Despite being ahead.

Not for much longer. I doubt most of the people voting for him in polls are going to be able to stomach this one.

That’s criticizing and shaming. “You should go away” is a criticism and not an attempt to silence. An attempt to silence would be something like “we should change the rules of the primary such that Trump is not allowed to compete any more”.

The local Rethuglicans call that “being a straight shooter”.

I call it “being a loudmouthed asshole”.

By that logic, “Go soak your head” is also merely a criticism. Actually, it’s a suggested course of action, which really has no place in such situations, unless the course of action suggested is “Go educate yourself” or “Be more sensitive”. Telling people to go away is known as ostracism, a prudish approach that really has no place in modern society.

Some people (and some sentiments) should be ostracized (by shared social choice, not by force) in “modern society”.

You, sir, are a true hero.

Wait.

Do you think that Donald Trump seriously believes that Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii? ***

Because he was a huge Birther.

I don’t think Donald Trump says what he believes.

I think Donald Trump says what will get Donald Temp the attention his ego requires.

The man’s a huge attention-whore. Sometimes I think that if everyone stopped paying attention to him he’d shrivel up and die.

Practices what he preaches.

Except for Ted Cruz, who seems to go out of his way to avoid criticizing Trump. Just one more reason, of many, that I would never vote for Cruz

Prior to his run, Trump always seemed to be in his own little world, where he would say how he’s #1 or whatever and would keep saying it even if it was proven not to be true (like with Celebrity Apprentice). The guy has a huge ego and lot of self-importance and is very much of a windbag. A lot of politicians have egos but most of them have filters. Trump doesn’t seem to have any filters, which can be good in a lot of cases, but with Trump, he inserts his foot in his mouth too often and talks without thinking and without regard to whether something is really true (I don’t know McCain’s record with veteran affairs to be honest)

He has his moments. Problem is, they are moments.

But, that has nothing to do with the present real-world situation.

I think Cruz likes this also – he’s positioning himself to pick up the Trump supporters once he melts down, and he’s waiting for the meltdown.

Yeah, Cruz isn’t just not attacking Trump, he’s defending Trump. Trumpeting him, if you will.
