Just picked this up today while I was in Powell’s City of Books in Portland, Oregon.
I’m a big fan of The Onion in general, and so far, this book is possibly the best thing they’ve ever done. My favorite section so far is in the intro it has “Understanding the Page Numbers”, from which this bit of wisdom comes:
If, at any point during the book, the reader wishes to calculate the distance between the current page and a page yet to come, he must subtract from the former the numerical value of the latter and write the difference in the Page Calculation Log located in the back of the book, taking special care to adjust the total with each subsequent page read, until the overall difference equals “1”, at which point the Page Calculation Log will no longer serve any function and the reader will have to erase the results and start anew.
Just absolutely brilliant and well done with diagrams, infograms, margin “factoids” and more.
But, who would expect any less from America’s Finest News Source?
