The Onion gets duped by another satire site!

All right, now there have been many cases in which serious news organizations have been duped by satirical news stories from The Onion. But who expected The Onion to be duped by another satire site?

A satire site called BBSpot recently put up a news article poking fun at the MPAA’s crackdown on piracy by claiming that the movie industry was forcing individuals to register their home theaters with the MPAA. The Onion AV Club- the serious entertainment section of the humor publication- reported on this on their website. They quickly took it down, but BBSpot was able to record it for prosperity. Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood.

This story also outraged some of the posters over on Slashdot.

Yeah, I’d expect they’ll get a good bit of ad revenue from that…

Yeah it was crazy how angry people got. when it just seemed so fake to me. The MPAA would never do that. They are too busy tyring to get them Pirates.
