The Onion poignantly captures the nation’s feelings on the loss of JFK Jr. in The JFK Jr. Tragedy: About a Year or So Later. My favorite quote:

It was Aug or Sep 2000, wasn’t it? Almost exactly a year after Lady Di’s death? Sob sob. I miss them so much. Such good looking, tall, young, rich, royalty. Why oh why? Only the good die young, heh?

Seriously, though, or not entirely seriously, I remember a quote from JFKJr. during Monicagate: “I was under that desk twenty-seven years ago, and I can assure you there’s barely room for a two-year-old!”
