The strawberries I got yesterday at the market caused me to sound rather orgasmic. Best damn berries I’ve ever eaten. Teeny-tiny, sweet…oh my oh my. Yep, I’ll never buy berries at the store again.
And the dickhead would be happy, they’re organic. Though they’re so good even if they were covered in DDT I’d eat them!
Hey, neighbor! I’m in NE IL–about a mile south of I-80 and about 5-8 miles west of the state line. And I don’t go to Orland Park unless I either have several errands to run there or must go (like for a social event–very rare). I consider if far from my southeastern suburban abode–plus, I don’t have to battle the expressway traffic (although the traffic on Rt 6 is arguably worse).
I don’t care for zealots, either. Ok, so you don’t feed your kid any refined sugar. That’s great. Guess what said kid is going to crave? My parents did this (for other reasons–2 sisters had juvenile diabetes back when it in the dark ages) and I craved, hid, gorged on any and all sugar I could find (I was not one of the diabetics). Or maybe they won’t–but I’m with the Greeks: moderation. A few Twinkies aren’t going to kill the kid. A food does not have to be labeled organic to be healthy. Hell, cyanide is organic.
Sorry to hear of your money troubles–NW IN is not the cheapest place to live. Also, Trader Joe’s is nice and all, but it’s not a mecca–you’d do better at the local veggies open air markets, the “pick your own” and Aldi’s for staples such as flour etc.
I don’t just dislike zealots, I actively despise people who proselytize or preach at me re their Way is The Way etc. Bollocks, I say.
I’m just trying to figure out what the organic food freak’s doing in a candy store! I know you had the item he wanted, but considering he’s surrounded by products which use refined sugar and, no doubt, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and flavors (in fact, if you sell products for bakers, you might even sell some of the latter), it’s a wonder he even set foot in the place.
I did like this line, though. “Yes, yes I do. It is, however, only part time. So pleased to meet you, I am the face of the working poor. Having a job does not automatically make one middle class.”
