He’s one guitarist that I always felt didn’t get the recognition he deserved. I always wondered if he’d ever show up on WUWT. I was disappointed that:
He wasn’t the musical guest.
He didn’t sit in with the band or with Paul Simon.
He played the acoustic Big Love* thing which has become his most well known thing since the DVD. I wish he would have had an electric guitar and really wailed on the WUWT theme, which I find insanely jam along-able and always causes me to reach for my guitar.
Yes correct. The WUWT skit had the SNL member (Bill Hader) who usually plays LB and the real LB. If you’re not familiar with the recurring skit you wouldn’t know that. Sorry.
I thought WUWT was hilarious the first time they did it, which was the first time I saw it. I cannot for the life of me imagine why they think repeating the same schtick requires new episodes with different real celebrities not being interviewed due to lack of time.
The Ambiguously Gay Duo was the best thing about last night. Fucking hilarious, and the real life segments played by some famous actors instead of SNL cast members was a great surprise as well
I’m reading Tina Fey’s book. These are apparently known as “sneaker uppers” where they bring the subject of a regular impersonation out to appear with the impersonator.
I agreed that it was hilarious. (Incredibly juvenile, but hilarious.) BTW, the write-up of the episode in the Onion AV Club said that the reason that they finally had the real Lindsay Buckingham on was that this is Kenan Thompson’s last year on the show.
Yeah, there was something that seemed very final about this episode of What’s Up With That, with the real Lindsay Buckingham coming out and Paul Simon asking Kenan why he never lets him talk. I’m gonna miss him… sniff
The best part was watching Paul Simon’s face as he listened to it. He was clearly enjoying it, and at times had a “I see what you did there” look on his face.
