The Pennies by the Elevator

A while back I was heading down to lunch. In my jacket pocket, I find a penny.

Now I don’t care for pennies, but I recognize their value as omens of good fortune. So I tend to put them in places where people can find them and thus enjoy some good luck. I work on the fifth floor, and the panel for the elevator-summoning buttons juts out a little from the wall, forming a little ledge. So I placed my penny on the ledge and went to lunch.

An hour later, not only was the penny still there, but two others had joined it.

When I went home that afternoon, there were seven of them.

The next day, I thought about doing this with twenty dollar bills, but decided against it. When I left that day, there was a penny on the ledge.

I seem to have started something. About once a week there’s a penny, or sometimes several pennies there. I haven’t put one there in some time. I heard a dime showed up a few days ago. Yesterday there were eleven pennies and a peanut(!).

No responses expected. This was a MPSIMS.

I love that story (and I do the same thing with pennies… only mine always just get picked up–Abe never gets friends…)!!!

You gotta go for the gold.

Come on.

Do a dollar.
