I have absolutely no interest in football. It’s going to be very difficult to get me to a football game.

No disrespect intended but that’s total hogwash. The US electorate bought into Trumps notion that all the fault of your country lay with “the guy down the street”. Plus Trump always, always out performs the polls.
Not really. Because the score of the football game doesn’t affect you or me personally except in very specific circumstances (we bet on the game, we played in the game, we coached the game, etc.). We are all affected by who wins the election. Interest has nothing to do with it.

Well, you can continue to kick down and wonder why people don’t support you, or you can shift the blame pattern upwards, where it belongs, and win people over by giving their anger and fear validation and a solution.
The mainstream Democrats seem to put more effort into running against ol’ Bernie than Republicans, and why would that bring out the huge numbers who say a pox on both your houses?

I think the people who piss me off the most are the ones I’ve run across elsewhere on the web who didn’t vote Trump, but petulantly refused to vote Harris, because she wasn’t progressive enough.
WTF? They sat out because they didn’t have a candidate that they liked? It’s breathtakingly… something. Entitled? Ignorant? Foolish? All of these come to mind when the 2024 election comes to mind. You’d think that “not progressive enough” is still better than proto-Fascist, but apparently not.
Ok, if that’s the case, how do Democrats get ignorant, racist, and stupid people to vote for them? That’s the question that needs to be asked, not sitting on their high horses feeling smug that they’re smart, not racist, and bigoted. AND NOT IN OFFICE.
No, I can acknowledge that democracy is dead, and what the Democrats say never mattered in the first place because “Steve” never listened. And I’m not even a Democrat, anyway.
The Democrats didn’t dismiss Steve as “ignorant, racist or just stupid”; and that was their mistake. They kept trying to appeal to the morality and self interest of somebody who wasn’t listening and didn’t care. The Republicans have been so successful in no small part because they have approached the American public as if they are stupid, ignorant and evil. And it works, because it’s true.
“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people”. Overestimating it is a different matter.

this is logically, and practically, not true. You are not all responsible for him being elected because you did not vote for him. The people who actually voted for him are responsible.

It’s a logical one as well as a moral one. The legal one is irrelevant.
When the latter is emphasized, the former is lost.
I understand that everyone has their own reasons for voting or not voting, and for who they choose to support or not support. But what baffles me is people that look at Democrats & Republicans as if they’re equally evil, or “six of one, half dozen of the other…a pox on both of their houses”.
We just elected a guy that wants to be a dictator. And there’s probably millions of people in this country that think that the Democrats are equally that bad, because someone is transgender on a female cross country team…
To me, it’s so blatantly obvious that one side is a fascist-dictatorship-in-waiting and the other side is just a normal political party.
