As I sit here and read various forums on this site and on other sites, I can’t help but notice that one group is pretty much denied blame for the shit show that we are currently living.
To all of you to the left of, say Liz Cheney, who just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Clinton in 2016 and Harris in 2024, all of this is on YOU! Have to hand it to Republicans, they can play the long game. They put up with Bush 1, Dole, Romney, and then were blessed with their savior Bush 2, then their true lord and master, Trump.
Of course, this could have been avoided if people on the right sighed and selected Clinton and Harris. Sure, we might not have universal health care, but we likely wouldn’t be in a war with Iran and a possible war with Cuba and not to mention my granddaughters having fewer rights than my mother and grandmother.
So, I just want to say loud and clear, to those that consider themselves on the left, however you define it that say out or voted for candidates who had no fucking chance, this is all your fault. And I know some of you will say, but…but…but… FUCK YOU. The reason we’re going back to the 1920s with women’s rights, voting rights etc is because of YOU.
Yes, we all hate MAGA, but YOU are why they are currently in charge!
And I’ll repeat, you are not getting enough blame, and I’ll do my best to make sure you get the blame you fucking deserve!
I can understand blue voters in places like Massachusetts or Alabama not bothering to vote.
Those blue voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, though…no such excuse. They certainly couldn’t say their vote wouldn’t matter, and they couldn’t claim they didn’t understand how dire/awful 4 more years of Trump would be; there was overwhelming proof. I’d like to get inside their psychology, read their brains for a while to see the logic.
Since when do they not get blame? Shitting on the left is practically a Democratic tradition!
For the record, everyone in a swing state who was eligible to vote in '16 and '24 and who didn’t vote for Clinton and Harris owns a little piece of the responsibility for Trump, whatever their motivation, IMO.
OK, folks who sat out instead of voting against Trump deserve some share of blame, sure, I can buy that.
But how many of them sat out because they were “leftist purists”? A nonzero number, I’m sure, but is there any reason to think the number was significant?
Agreed, shitting on the left is the Democrats first priority, but I’m not talking about them because they supported both candidates. It’s the left while being shitted on by the establishment ended up voting for the Green Party or Jill Stein instead of Clinton and Harris who I am bitching about.
I believe so. There are many people who said they were “establishment” picks who either sat out the election or left the president blank. Sadly, the so called autopsy by the Democrats didn’t even mention this.
How about the people on the right who hated Trump and everything he stood for, but couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris, so just didn’t vote for either one?
Seriously. All of the people that you know who voted for the psychopath, they’re at fault here. And do “you” welcome these people into your life, and treat them as though they merely have a different political opinion?
It’s been a while since I looked at the numbers but, IIRC, Trump got the same turnout in 2024 as he did in 2020. Not much changed there. What did change was a lot of Dems who voted for Biden stayed home in 2024. That made the difference.
Now, ask yourself why? Was it shitty, awful liberal voters who were too lazy or was it, again, a democratic party that simply did not deliver on their promises…again.
Even today, right now, the democratic party cannot read the room and continues to fuck up (looking at you Chuck). Yet again. Maybe they need a full-on enema cleansing. I am done with that party. I’ve stayed with them too long hoping. They can all fuck off.
Look back at debates here on this message board and many were apoplectic that Bernie Sanders might win (barely hyperbole). This “liberal” board was in a tizzy some weird socialist guy could possibly win. Some were positively freaked out about it. And they got Biden. And here we are.
Poke me when AOC and the The Squad get power. Till then dems can fuck off.
And fuck you about “purists.” What does that even mean?
Just to be clear here, are you talking about progressives (the ever-present boogeyman of the evils of socialism such as rich people paying some fucking taxes for once?) or are you talking about Democrat squishes who sit in the middle and declare both sides to be the same? At least the progressives believe in something. For every recreationally-outraged ultra-liberal who stayed home because Kamala Harris didn’t say the word “genocide” often enough, I bet there are ten squishes who stayed home because they didn’t like some combination of her pant suits and her vague policies.
I’m talking about the people on the so called left who could not bring themselves to vote for Hillary or Kamala because they did not fit 100% what they wanted. Anyone who sees themselves as on the left who didn’t vote for them voted for Trump, and I say FUCK THEM. They are responsible for what is going on now, not MAGA and not the Republicans who have always been vile even though I was one in the 80s.
There’s a segment of the ideological left that equates liberalism with fascism, called Harris a fascist and felt there was no difference between voting Republican or Democrat. And that’s not counting the accelerationists who wanted Trump to win because they felt it would destroy capitalism/America/Ukraine/some mix of that. I got into lots of arguments with those people.
That said, the actual Left is very small in the US, and I doubt they had the numbers to make much of a difference in the election.
Welllll… I somewhat agree. Yet, “Evil triumphs when good men do nothing” comes to mind these days. That’s the Republican Congress in a nutshell. @Cumberdale is a little harsher than I might be, but after the first four years of Jackass & Co., there is no excuse for allowing it to get back in power again. I hope their righteous indignation is worth the unholy mess we’re in now.
