I don’t really like the premise of the final episode, as one guy’s mentee could just be inherently better than the other. Given the short span of time they will be spending with them, natural talents may be more significant than instruction.
I wish the show lasted longer, it’s down to the final two, and I’m not really seeing “pickup artist” yet in either of them. One would think that in these last few challenges, all of them would have succeeded in picking up women, with the one who got the most or performed the most skillfully getting the win; rather than the only person who manages to get a phone number or bounce a set being the winner by default. I think they could have reached that point, but it has just been too soon.
Agreed. And eight episodes is just really short for a series. Had they had 16 students, they could have doubled the length of the series, and maybe we’d see real mastery by the end of it. But I imagine that 16 students would have been too much for Mystery to handle, too much for viewers to handle (although we do just fine with American Idol), and too much field test footage.
If it comes abck for a 2nd season, I wonder if they’ll retool it.
Instead of increasing the number of students they could just draw it out a bit more. How much time in-real-life passed between the episodes? 1 week? If so, they could just double it, and leave the episodes the same. That would make it more exciting, giving them enough time to really improve by the end.
Or maybe do the elimination challenge and the immunity challenge in two episodes instead of one.
I was thinking they could turn one episode into two. Excellent idea to split the tests. As it is, have you noticed that this show has the exact same format as Hell’s Kitchen?
But the problem with doing that is that already, they don’t seem to have much content. Easily half of the show is commercials, or “coming up”, or replaying what was just shown before the last commercial break. The last 15 minutes is nothing but the guys waiting in anticipation of Mystery’s verdict, and there are two commercial breaks in that!
