I’d have to start with an oldie but goodie, Road Rash. Yeah, graphics have improved tremendously since this came out, but it’s playability hasn’t wavered over the years. This was one of the first games that encouraged obliterating pedestrians and wiping out fellow bikers, even the cops! Your crashes were occasionally spectacular. And the soundtrack to the game rocked.
I’d also put Battle Arena Toshinden on the list. Blows Mortal Kombat games out of the water. One of the first to take advantage of increased capability of a PS.
Another strong candidate for me would be Final Fantasy VII. It’s a couple of years old now, but I just got it a week or two ago. What an epic! I’ve played it for about 24 hours (it has a log that lets you know the amount of game time) and I haven’t even gotten off the first disc of a three-disc game yet!
It’s addictive as hell.
I don’t play my PlayStation often enough to have masterful skills, so I don’t go for games that are incredibly hard to play. I love the fact that FF7 has a lot going on and is still a very playable game.

Toshinden? Bah! It paled compared to Soul Edge (Blade). My favorites read like a “Greatest Hits” list but I’d say:
-All of the Ridge Racers
-Resident Evil 2 (never got a chance to play 3, PSX died)
-Gran Turismo
-Intelligent Cube
-Oddworld
-Castlevania
-Hot Shots Golf
-Tony Hawk
-All the Crash Bandicoot series
-Ape Escape
You know, I hate it when I say reply and then cannot remember what I was going to type…
oh, yeah! Medevil was a great game! Was difficult, but not impossible. It had a great sense of humor and was entertaining through the whole game. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has a PlayStation

Yoy’re not alone. Mrs. Trion and I are both in our 30’s and our Playstation get a lot of use. FWIW, I’m the RPGer and prefer Final Fantasy VII, while she likes the Resident Evil series.
Must be an obscure title because I don’t see in stores anymore (like Mystery Science Theater 3000, it was too cool to live),it was a kid’s game and too easy for REAL game players, but for folks like me who suck at action games it was great and the music was addictive.
You basically hit the appropriate buttons to make the Parappa charactor kick, punch, pose and bust a move to the music.
When I say “boom, boom, boom” you say “bamm, bamm, bamm”
Jeez, how could I have forgotten Parappa? “You gotta believe!”
Inky, if you liked that, give “Bust a Groove” a shot. Its a similar format (simon sez) but its a dance-off with different characters and you can freestyle a bit- you don’t always have to follow the on-screen commands if you know what you’re doing.
Trion, I can’t even fathom the concept of being able to play PlayStation with the Mrs.
She never touches the stuff (although I recently bought one of those “greatest hits” games with like six old early '80s arcade games on one disc, and I’ve caught her playing Pac-Man).
I’m almost 33, so you aren’t alone.
Lots of votes here for Siphon Filter, which I’ve never seen, let alone played. I’ll have to give it a whirl.

Gotta throw Metal Gear Solid up here, cause it had me hooked good. I am thinking I will like Syphon Filter, it seems along the same lines. Any thoughts ?
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is probably the greatest game on the Playstation. It is creepy as anything, the graphics are great, and to top it off there is no noticeable load time between realms. It kicks butt.
