The Porn Film That Wasn’t.

It’s Friday night, SIL and her kids who we share a house with have gone out. Leechboy and I are at the video store he’s trying to decide between renting Manhattan or Mighty Aphrodite, I figure night to ourselves = adult film. So I pick up the first movie I see, I figure there’s not much difference between them; people have sex, get blow jobs, give blow jobs and moan/scream a lot. The box I pick up has this cute blonde chick on the cover, she’s tastefully naked, its called the girl next door.

So we get home and put on the video………. WTF it’s a documentary, I grab the box, yep there it is on the cover just under the title a documentary by Christine Fugate (bolding and size all theirs). There’s even a little quote “Daring and honest” – Charles Lyons, The New York Times. Jeez if only I’d looked closer, I would have realised the NYT don’t review porn films. We decide to watch it despite the disappointment and it turns out to be really worthwhile! All about a housewife called Stacy who becomes a big porn star.

WARNING SPOILER

Some of the best comments in the video come from the guys who work in the industry, for example when a newbie leading guy decides to disappear mid shoot we get this from JJ his Stunt Double -

“ I’m just bummed because I wanted to work with Stacy. I was hoping ‘cos see I was promised if his dick didn’t get to work I got to stunt dick”

stunt dick  giggle

All in all not a bad little doco. Not sure if it was for real or not but it’s an interesting insight into a world very different from mine.

A somewhat disappointed but less ignorant (at least about the porn industry) leechbabe.

Yes, there actually is something known as the stunt dick in porn movies, but unlike mainstream films, he isn’t brought in when there is danger involved, but rather when the regular dick, can;t get/keep a boner.

The comedien John Hope says he got his break into show biz as the stunt but for Ned Beatty in Deliverance

STUNT COCK!

Um, I thought that’s what fluffers were for.

Well, it depends on how big your budget is, as to whether or not you have fluffers. A stunt dick is usually brought in when a new male actor is doing his first few scenes, because while he may have been able to perform for an audience of 1 before, now he has an audience of anywhere from 3-15 people, most of him are other guys, so it can be a bit intimidating/nerveracking.

Ummmm the movie did really cover fluffers - they help the male star rise to the occassion (so to speak) correct?

and if so how? traditional methods? are fluffers people or objects?

oops that was meant to be “didn’t really cover fluffers”

Wouldn’t that be one hell of a thing to put on your resume…

Guns ‘n’ Violence: Stunt Man
Guns ‘n’ Violence II: Stunt Man
Random Trashy Action Movie: Stunt Man
The Girl Next Door: Stunt Cock

… Would IDMB credit him as “Stunt Cock (file footage)?”

Fluffers are people (gender generally depending on the orientation of the actor, obviously) and they use ancient oral secrets.

The gender of the fluffer isn’t as cut and dried as you might think, btw. There is a fair amount of straight actors doing gay porn. The really, really good-looking ones almost always do gay, since (and this has been discussed before) straight porn studios generally hire relatively ugly male actors (to prevent the possibility of accidental “homo moments”, as the lovely Margaret Cho once put it).

Wow - things I learn on SDMB. Thanks jayjay.
