The Practice Season Finale (spoilers)

I knew it had to be guilty. A not guilty verdict would mean that it was all over and there would be no cliffhanger. I was hoping not to have this up in the air all summer, but I couldn’t see how it could be avoided.

So, how are they going to fix it? Or is Lindsay just SOL? Are they going to have a quicky appeal in the first episode next season? Or is it going to be a long term story arc?

Damn this show for getting me all involved.

Since under Mass law she’s not guilty of first degree murder, my WAG is that an appeal on that basis will be filed and won (whether in the first episode of next season or in a few eps) and, because of double jeopardy, she’s off the hook. SInce in part one she was arraigned on 2nd degree charges, I do not understand how she was convicted of 1st degree. There was no scene indicating why the prosecution upped the charges, so I’m guessing that the 2nd degree charge in the first part was a continuity error.

Another possibility, which would be ever so much more dramatic, would be to spin Helen’s telling Eleanor to put Lindsey on the stand into “prosecutorial misconduct.” Then Helen gets squeezed between her job and her friendships (again).

Ok, A question about the first hour.

What happened with the guy who was charged first with killing and then kidnapping a women.

I don’t know any of the character’s names, so I’m afraid I’m going to have to call the guy on trial “the guy”, the black woman defense lawyer “the lawyer”, the woman DA “the DA”, and the woman who was kidnapped “the woman”.

The guy’s partner get killed by the police, so now the guy is the only one who can tell where the woman is being held. The lawyer and the DA tell the guy that they have spread the word he’s a pedophile, so his stay in jail won’t be too comfortable.

At that point, my wife took a phone call, and I wasn’t paying attention. Next thing we know, the DA is saying it’s over, and no more is said.

So did they find the woman? Dead? Alive? What happened?

Ugly

The guy got stabbed in prison; he’s dead. The woman is never referred to again; presumably she starved to death in some locked basement. :frowning:

I thought they’d at least allude to a search for her in the 10:00 hour, but it was dropped.

“Nancy Connell” was the kidnapping victim’s name. I wondered about that too. Maybe they will pick up the story in the season opener this fall?

Maybe, but presumably 30 days or more elapsed between the first and second hours. (We know this because the trial was scheduled to start 30 days after the woman lawyer pleads not guilty because of battered woman syndrome.) So that seems like quite a while to wait before talking up the search.

Anyway, thanks for the info, it just seemed odd that they killed that storyline so quickly.
