The Preternatural Grace of Felines…

Beautiful, but clumsy kitties (and one bunny) all around!

Since I neglected it in my OP, here’s my kitty . Unfortunately, no picture was taken of the head-dunking.

I used to have a cat named Ruli, who as a kitten found a way to exploit the slippery floor in the kitchen. She’d come running along the carpet, and as she hit the linoleum, she’d brace all four feet and sliiiiide. Then she’d loop around and do it over and over, obviously enjoying herself. She had too much dignity to keep it up as an adult, but it was fun while it lasted.

As for graceful, when my current guys jump down from somewhere high, the thump they make leaves me suspecting that they have elephants in their pockets.

SomeUserName, I think your Beastie must be the larger sibling of my Sugar Magnolia. She got all the sweetness, though - she is the sweetest babycat in the world. Nothing makes her happier than giving kisses, which she will do to the point of total skin loss. She has also been known to give Mr. SCL some tongue.

Wow they do look alike.

My son had heard of the Beast and he stopped over one day. He picked him up and sat him on his lap and started petting him. I had at this point not picked up the beast. I was afraid how he would react. He continued to pet him for twenty minutes straight. The Beast made no moves and just soaked up the loving. “This cat is not mean at all”

He stayed over a couple weeks after that and Beastie swatted and meowyowled at him because he was trying to stop him from playing with the PS2 controller cord. He also got the dirty “I will kill you in your sleep” glare.

He now agrees that Beastie Bear is a different breed and is not a force to be reckond with.

Does she have vision problems?

I don’t think so. She’s only about four years old, and only does this occasionally. Most of the time she finds us on her own just fine.

bbsY2k, that is great! I’m a big Lolcats fan, and I’m replacing my current desktop picture with this one! Thanks! She is completely adorable, she just… a squirrel. :stuck_out_tongue:

We see this on a regular basis. If you try and swoosh him away he swats at you and gives you a ** MEOWHOWL**. He does not have a regular meow. He is irritated that you are trying to keep him from something that he wishes to do. This cat stuff is serious business.

That pic needs a lolcat caption!

Okay, I’ll try again.

I have had Libby for almost 3 weeks now and she is adorable - Like having my own pet elephant when she jumps on the bed.

A couple of nights ago I was sitting on the couch and I had a big glass of iced water in my hand. Libby climbed up on my knee and was fascinated by the glass of water. She edged closer and closer for about 5 mins and stuck her head in glass. She touched the water with her nose and sniffed, misjudged the exact depth of the water she simultaneously inhaled and exhaled water with the loudest “kerplerf” and threw herself backwards and ended up balanced on the edge of my knee on her butt back legs in front of her and her front legs acting like support arms behind her. I cried laughing at her as she seemed so suprised

Time to resurrect one of my favourite Doper quotes:
Somehow, cats have this reputation as being elegant, graceful, aloof, and more intelligent than the average dog. Clearly, somewhere cats have a PR firm that could sell shoes to snakes.

My “graceful” Hamlet liked to race down the hall and make a sharp left turn into my bedroom. All well and good, except on those days when I had the door closed. The bonk could be heard around the entire house.
Almost as good as seeing them run headlong into sliding glass doors and then stagger away, trying to feign the body language of “I meant to do that!”
From the old George Carlin standup routine: then the cat heads behind the couch where you can’t see him, puts his paws over his sore head and exclaims, Fucking meow!

Now that’s funny!

You like that, you should come over here . I’m having a ball with the material!
