The Price is Right 5/21 -- Something never done before?!

I just tuned in to Price today, just in time to see the first pricing game being played.

Safe Crackers was played, with a loss.

Drew Carrey then IMMEDIATELY … IMMEDIATELY Asked for the next contestant to be named, and actually said "Lets go straight through.

The contestant called up, actually won the One Bid, and came up to play cover up, with a Win.
Just me, or is this the first time (The New, 60 minute) Price has EVER, **EVER ** played two pricing games with out a commercial break inbetween?

According to the folks at Golden Road, this started about two weeks ago, and likely has something to do with the way Nielsen calculates its ratings:

It looks as though today’s [4/30/09] first segment ended at about 11:04 or so; to earn credit for the quarter-hour, a viewer must be watching for five consecutive minutes, so if viewers switched channels after the first pricing game and didn’t make it back in time, the first quarter-hour might not get credit, which could lower the rating for the first half of the show. Historically, the second half hour always rates higher.

Doubling up on Act I will guarantee that it hits seven to eight minutes…potentially up to 10 or so, depending on how they stack these first two games. If that’s the case, they’ll lock themselves in for the first quarter-hour, assuming the game selection doesn’t run people off earlier than planned.

I swear, the show has done NOTHING but go downhill since Bob left.

I used to blame Drew, but it’s obvious he is just a pawn in all of the changes.
