Even I know not to get between lno and his pork. On the other hand, I am secure in the knowledge that he will continue to bring home the bacon.
Nothing says love quite as much as lno looking at me, longingly, and saying: “You know, Elly, I love you more than pork.”
I… just… get misty-eyed every time.
<kermit>SQUEEEEEEEEE Oink oink oink! The sweet sound of pig loooooove… </kermit>
Elly
(seems to have died in the posting the first time, so here goes)
(Oh, and can you guys wait until April, huh huh huh? I will be there for a visit then! Please, oh pretty please, with pork on top?)
All I have to say is, if there is a gathering at Famous Dave’s, somebody better tell me about it! Either that, or make sure I never find out!
A friend of mine tells me of a billboard he saw somewhere in Saskatchewan that reads “Pork. The one you love.”
As a tribute to this thread, my girlfriend and I had dinner at a rib shack. I’d never been there. We were driving by on one of my usual expeditions and there, on the building, was a huge pig with the legend “RIBS, ETC.”
Sign from god, man.
Best ribs I’ve ever had, too.
Uptown would be fine. Friday nights are best for me (cause my hubby has daycare pickup duties), and Elenfair can set the date.
One would well-informedely assume that a diplomatic escalation up any organization’s chain of command would yield some form of a higher intellect and thus, a firmer grasp of situational awareness. Apparently, your situation lno, doesn’t fall into that category. My condolences.
Tripler
May you well quench your appetite.
That was only the first* poster I encountered in Ames. Let’s see, there’s “Life is just a bowl of pork chops!”, “Hooray for pork!”, and my favorite, “Hoorar for the red, pork and blue!”.
I remember what was happening when I left! It was the World Pork Expo.
I have a craving for pork chops now. Good thing I was planning on grocery shopping tomorrow.
In most of the lower-end retail jobs I’ve worked/know of, making manager is usually a matter of showing up on time and sticking around long enough to get promoted.
If you have a crockpot, a world of easy, delicious recipes will be opened before you. You will dine on tender, moist pork dishes and wonder what you did before crockpots were invented. You decide you don’t care as long as you can buy cheap pork and stick it in a crockpot. Okay, I’m leaving now.
If I believed in Satan, I’d say that Rainbow Foods and all other “you need a card” supermarkets were his minions. Here is your “Axis of Evil”, GWB!
Remember that $.99/lb. rib special Cub Foods had last fall? Oh, yeah. Those were soooo good! No stupid card necessary, either.
I love Famous Dave’s. I’m sure, though, that my husband would insist on accompanying me, saying that he needs to “protect me from those internet weirdos”. He’d be drooling as he said that, too.

Looks like it’s a Sam’s Club kind of weekend… thus officially semi-bumping the Famous Dave’s exploratory thread.
Oooh ooh! Include me, please!
I like Twin Cities Dopers. When come back, bring pork.
Where’s Elenfair, when is she in town?
I’m out of town the weekend of the 12th.
Elenfair will be here on April 30th-ish. I don’t think we can wait that long. (Elly, love, sweetie, I promise we’ll have another when you’re here.)
What do people think about Fri Apr 4 or Sat Apr 5? I’m insanely jealous of everyone’s fun at today’s lunch and need to fix this soon.
Who’s gonna be the designated driver?

IOW, count me in!
Friday after work works best for me. But I could likely swing Saturday.
Just a FYI:
04/04/03, Lamont Cranston
04/05/03, Jimmy Johnson
Will be playing at FD’s
