OK, here’s the deal. I’ve been here for over eighteen months and have 2200+ posts. I post in every forum. I post in Great Debates with considerable fervour. And yet I feel like I fade into the background and disappear. So now I’m going to come straight out and ask. Who of those reading this post knows who I am without looking up any of my posts, and of those, who likes me?
I know there are a few who hate me, and in some cases, it’s even mutual. That’s why I purposefully put this in MPSIMS and not the Pit, so only the feelgood people would get a chance to say their piece.
Priceguy, I know who you are. I even remember things about you just from your user name like, you’re from Northern Europe (I think.) However, I can’t think of any of your opinions or stances whatsoever (sorry). Perhaps that’s just because I avoid GD like the plague, for the most part. I don’t want to be controverisal on the SDMB… since I (usually) make quite an intense impression on everyone I meet IRL (positive or negative), I want to keep this wonderful place a place where I sort of fade into the background… where I’m not sure if I’m liked or disliked, and that’s O.K…
Yeah, I know how you feel. Posting your little heart and soul out here and yet remaining invisible to the Inner Circle of SDMB.
Maybe if you wore a fez or something.
I’m familiar with your username and it doesn’t invoke any negative feelings. In real life, I’m terrible with names. For example, if my husband tells me a story about someone at work and then mentions the person again a few days later, I’ll never know it’s the same person to whom he’s referring.
So, if someone here said, “Remember when Priceguy said X?”, I would most likely remember the story, but not remember that it was you who said it. Make sense?
Anyway, your thread title reminds me of The Young Ones where Rik says “Hands up…who likes me?” and everyone puts their hands down.
Of course I know who you are, and I respect and share many of your convictions. You don’t fade into the background and disappear nearly as much as I do.
I was mad at you for a while, but then that rash cleared right up. I thought that “help me figure out if starting a self sufficient colony on a boat is possible” thread was kinda goofy, but otherwise you’re a cool cat.
If you wanted to be noticed by me, you had the perfect opportunity in my Attention Ho thread. If you don’t care enough about me to post in my thread, why should I care about you? Screw you, Priceguy.
