I just called the airlines and asked about this new “system” idea.
They don’t wanna.
I am perfectly capable of opening up my own can of soda or beer and pouring it into a little plastic cup, but I don’t throw a childish hissy fit when they do it because that is their job and they would get in trouble if they just rolled that cart halfway down the aisle and said, “help yourselves!” When they buckle you into that chair properly, they are doing their job, and they do not have the prerogative to let you do a crappy job of it just because their isn’t enough room on that chair for you and your ego.
Huh? Who are you talking to here? Because it’s clearly not me. What you are describing at the outset of your post is called “being a served a drink”. Not apropo to this situation WHATSOEVER. And I know the rules that are in place now. It’s like you willfully ignore everything I say so you can make you little points. I am PROPOSING a little flexibility be allowed on the part of the attendant when it comes to significantly less-disabled passengers who do not wish to be fastened in with ALL the safety belts (which are in place to meet the safety needs of the absolutely most disabled passengers). This, IMO, is perfectly reasonable and I feel like alot of the people here are more interested in arguing and disagreeing with me than acknowledging this. Not everyone, but many.
I propose some flight attendants might let themselves get talked into using fewer straps, if they were willing to risk their jobs for it.
I agree. And since this thread has been little more than “Is too.”/“Is not.” (veering very close to “Uh, huh.”/“Nuh, uh.”) but with lots of snide remarks, for days, I am going to put it out of my misery.
Further discussions may be carried out if posters can find a way to start the conversation afresh, (although I suspect that The BBQ Pit will be a better home, regardless), but this thread is closed.
