The problems with the Federal Five in Canada

Hello. I’m preparing for a debate, and I need criticisms for the following federal parties: The Liberals, the Canadian Alliace, the Progressive Conservatives, the NDP, and the Bloc Quebecois. What’s “wrong” with each of them, and why shouldn’t the electorate vote for them?

Any helpful sites would be appreciated. I am in need of facts.

Thanks in advance.

Liberals: arrogant, haven’t done anything in the 8 years in office
Alliance: Day will impose his beliefs on the country, a regional party, fear of 2 tier health
PC: would work with the BQ, bad management last time around
NDP: bad for the economy, only care about social spending and not about making Canada competitive globally, think anyone making $60,000+ isn’t deserving of a tax cut
BQ: only goal is to split the country, regional party

This is all very superficial, obvious stuff. You could probably find a lot of bad things about the other parties at each of these party’s websites.

IMO, we have no good choices this year.

As an Albertan, I’m a pretty big fan of Stockwell Day’s fiscal policies, since they did a great job for us. But his social conservatism scares the crap out of me. I don’t want a Prime Minister who believes the Earth is 6000 years old and that Man walked with Dinosaurs, who is militantly anti-gay and anti-abortion rights, and who believes that creationism should be taught in schools.

Jean Cretien and the Liberals are arrogant, and the only thing they believe in is holding onto power. They alternate between being as far left as the NDP and as far right as the Alliance, depending on how the political wind is blowing. They kept almost none of their election promises, and calling the election this early was a blatant attempt to side-step the opposition while they were still organizing, at the expense of the country and the principles of democracy. Hard for me to vote for them.

The NDP is our socialist party, and IMO socialism is a thoroughly discredited political philosophy. Nuff said about them.

The PC’s are much like the Liberals - their only real belief is that they should be in power, and they’ll do whatever it takes to get there. That they can only draw 10% support after running the country for over a decade indicates how thoroughly they’ve been discredited.

The BQ is a regional party that wants Quebec to separate. They have nothing to offer as a federal party.

So that leaves… no one. Where’s the Rhinoceros party when you need them? In case you don’t remember, the Rhinos ran on a policy of lowering the Rocky Mountains to give everyone a bit more daylight. I’d vote for them in a heartbeat this year.
