The 'Put it Back on the Menu, Dammit' thread

I don’t know whether it was beef tallow, trans fats or whatever, but I wish McDonald’s would bring back their old fries. I’ll sign a waiver!

Taco Bell’s old enchirito was rather tasty.

Look around; you ought to be able to find horchata elsewhere. I’ve seen it at several authentic (i.e. Mexican-owned) order-at-the-counter-type Mexican restaurants.
Oddly enough the AM/PM gas station/convenience stores here offer Horchata in their in-store drink fountains.

The A&W franchise as a whole. Put all your products back on the British menu. I have no idea why it failed, as they were so much better than their competitors.

I went to Trader Joe’s last week specifically to get some dolmas and some escargots en brioche. Both of these are staples you can always count on.

I was told the dolmas had been discontinued, and that the escargots were seasonal. What? They had the best dolmas around! They always have dolmas! And then the drop them? And what’s seasonal about frozen escargots?
Trust me, there are better dolmas all over the planet. If you’re willing to drive to Van Nuys, Valley Hye on Burbank and Kester can hook ya up.

And while we’re on the subject, they musta been HIGH when they killed the fish tacos at Elephant Bar. Best damn fish tacos in the observable multiverse.

I long for their Chicken Caesar Pitas to return. Thank GOD for TSR.

Those things were delish.
I also used to love those, as well as the Greek salad pitas. It was a dark day when they told me they didn’t sell them anymore.

They’re the best I’ve found I can reliably get. (The fresh ones – Haven’t tried the jarred ones.)

Van Nuys is a bit of a drive from the Canadian border. :frowning:

A Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve horchata is like a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t serve beans. You might as well be eating at Taco Bell.
Which I’ve got no desire to do. Although using that spelling it should be easier to find.

Red Lobster used to have a Banana Foster cheesecake on its dessert menu. Gone now. :frowning:

This is probably going to sound strange to most of you but a new hamburger joint appeared in my neighborhood–Smashburger–and one of the great things about it was that you could design your own burger, adding things on from a list of ingredients. And one of the ingredients was spinach. Yes! You could have spinach leaves instead of lettuce on your burger!

I love burgers but lettuce, not so much. However, I do like spinach. So this was great.

After a couple of months they discontinued the spinach option because no one was using it and they were throwing away a lot of spinach. But, hey, I was in there like once a week and I always chose the spinach option–but, apparently, I was the only one.

I liked that one too. Taco Bell’s best offering!

Never mind—I had the impression that you lived in Los Angeles, and not just because of your username. I could have sworn that you’ve discussed topics relevant to the L.A. basin—my bad. Encroaching Alzheimer’s, I guess. :smack:

That’s all right. I’m a native of Southern California, and I lived there a lot longer than I’ve lived here.

Red Robin used to have a dish called Cajun fried shrimp, which was fried baby shrimp with a spicy coating. They replaced it with a much less spicy version and then replaced that with large fried shrimp in a plain coating which is just boring and pointless.

Costco briefly had a very good muffin – Sour cream cherry – which was the best muffin they ever stocked. It had real, slightly tart cherries in it and was just perfect for breakfast. I haven’t seen it in years.
Taco Bell had a Big Beef Burrito that I loved. It was pretty much just beef, cheese, onions, and sauce. Delicious. And now gone.
I order a beef burrito every time I go to Taco Bell. Ground beef, cheese, onions…even though it hasn’t been on the menu for probably 20 years, I have never had a problem getting one.
Cinnamon Crispas from Taco Bell - discontinued in the early 90s. I don’t go to Taco bell anymore since I started significantly reducing my fast food intake (and the pork-rindesque Cinnamon Twists are no substitute) but I still miss them.
Aren’t those from Taco Time, not Taco Bell? They still have them.

Wendy’s used to have monthly special sandwiches, and popular ones would be brought back every year or so. Two I remember liking were the Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger and the Monterey Ranch Chicken Sandwich. The stopped bringing them back sometime after Dave Thomas died. They did have a Cheddar Baconator a while ago, but it wasn’t the same.

AFAIK, Red Robin also has discontinued their fried clams. At least around here they have.

Not a menu item, per se, and I have no idea if this happened nationally or not, but Subway around here discontinued their red wine vinaigrette (which is considerably different and better than the splash of oil and spray of vinegar they have now) about six months ago. I’m still devastated. That stuff was GOOOOD!

I can still get it in Altoona when I go up to visit Mom, or at least could as of the last time I was up there, so I don’t know if the discontinuation is national and the Altoona store just has a lot left over or whether it’s regional.

Taco Bell still has the enchirito, or at least a version of it. It’s not as good as the old one (they never are) but they still make them.
