The Qatari jet

He is supposedly a billionaire. We are making him a couple of brand new planes. If he wants this gift plane, and it’s his to take with him, then he should foot the renovation bill. This administration just throws away millions like they’re nothing, which to these assholes I guess they are.

I bigly encourage him to continue to fly on this new luxury jet which has no anti-missile defense system. I think it’s a fabulous idea!

When he is gone, I wanted him sued to rebuild the East Wing. And none of this mamby pamby appeals. Sue the shit out of him.

He should definitively use it to tour the Middle East.

We’re not making a couple of brand new planes for him. These planes are being prepared for the use of the POTUS, whoever that is. And as for the Qatari plane, I don’t agree with the idea that it’s going to be given to his presidential library at the end of his term, but someone make that decision. But certainly if he plans to fly it around, it needs to be stripped of whatever improvements were made to make it suitable to carry the POTUS, especially the “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on the outside. No one should be fooled that it’s still an official plane.

And another thing; my understanding is that as a private citizen, he had trouble keeping the 757 that he called Trump Force One operational; I really doubt he can afford to keep a 747-8 operational. I think I read that Air Force One costs something like $200,000 per flying hour, though some of those costs are associated with things that wouldn’t be needed for a former president and private citizen. So in the end, he may never fly the former Qatari plane anywhere.

He has earned (stolen, grifted, whatever) several billion dollars during his second term. I don’t know what his real worth was before getting re-elected, but now he’s for sure a billionaire.

That may be, but flying a 747-8 around is going to hurt even a billionaire.

Oh, he’s not done grifting.

The grifting opportunities will dry up entirely once he’s out of office, and will start to dry up as his term comes to an end.

I’m actually hoping that he has a long life as a former president, because he’s going to be utterly ignored by everyone, even by those who are so eager to flatter and praise him now.

Jokes aside, so do I, I want to see him suffer, the dead don’t suffer.

The issue is that the approval for what the Executive pays for ultimately lies with the person in charge of it, which is Trump himself. Unless the legislature intervenes, but guess what, Republicans control both houses, so that ain’t happening.

For now…

Yeah, he’ll probably be butting heads for the last 2 years. And I think he knows it, which explains why this seems to be ramping up as the midterms get closer. Squeeze that orange for every drop until it gets slapped out of your hand.

Though now that I think of it, Dems will not get a veto proof majority, if he can gift himself the plane and the only way to stop it is passing a law he can keep vetoing it until his term ends and keep the plane.
Given the damage that would do to the republicans image and, hopefully, prospects on the next election it may be worth it to let him keep the plane.

(AIUI) That’s already against the law.

Hopefully the Supreme Court agrees…

You misspelled grift.

If Spirit Airlines was still a thing, I’d be in favor of legislation requiring that it be the only carrier legally allowed to fly him.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.
