Submarines carry all sorts of spare parts and materials. I wasn’t in Supply so I don’t know how they decide what to stock, but of course it’s a balancing act between the amount of space it takes, how critical it is, and how likely you are to need it. I’m sure it’s an iterative process based on feedback and lessons learned.
I was a reactor operator, not a supply officer, so I dunno.
Of course, something like epoxy resin can potentially serve all sorts of different needs, so it makes a lot of sense to stock some of it.

The Police Academy films are worth checking out for 80s nostalgia if nothing else.
