The Quitting Smoking Diary

Dammit… I used to know this one, I swear. Had something to do with women. But then again, I also remember lighting up after those activities…

Hey Satan!
Congratulations on your first week of taking control of your tobacco addiction. I’m rooting for you.

Mrs. Chef quit about six weeks ago and is holding it together pretty well…of course, she was a light smoker, maybe three or four a day.

I never started because of a peculiarity of military-school life. I was able to see the entire course of the smoking experience, from kids having their first smoke and feeling SO cool, to pathetic addicts scrabbling around the ground near the smokers’ area for a discarded butt with enough length left to light up for a drag or two. It looked like a downward spiral to me. Plus, I only got about $5 a week back then, and no way was I going to waste video-game money on cigs!

Of course, now that I’m a gourmet I’m glad I didn’t commit taste-bud genocide…Mrs. Chef is delighted with how much better everything tastes now.

Good luck to all the ex-smokers in this thread. I’m proud of you.

Oh, what the hell. I figure this is as good a jumping-in point as any.

I just put on my little patch about ten minutes ago, and notice already that it itches like crazy! Anyone else had this happen?

Also, I really like the meter available from silkquit. That’s like the perfect motivational tool.

Granted, I’ve only been an active smoker for 12 years, but I’ve been around it every day of my life. Good thing the weather’s nice today, I’ve got the windows down in my truck, hoping to blow some of that old smoke smell out of there.

Good luck to all!

I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darnit, people like me.
