The reign of King Charles III of the United Kingdom

Hardly direct to Henry VII. Yes his mother’s grandfather was a bastard son of John of Gaunt, a son of Edward III. But it goes thru the distaff line, and from a legitimized bastard.

Yep.

No woosh, and technically, now you actually do know the odd phrase in Tok Pisin. :upside_down_face:

I have to try to fit into conversation. Obviously not referring to myself!

Footnote to the discussion above about the royal cypher: I’m watching TV coverage of the Lord Mayor’s Show (ceremonial parade marking the installation of this year’s Lord Mayor), and I see that while the State Trumpeters have Charles’s cypher on their uniforms, the cloths on the trumpets themselves are still ER. No doubt there’s some arcane reason beyond sheer economy.

Harry will receive undisclosed damages reportedly in excess of £10m.

Was this the first significant legal case one of the Royals brought against the press?

And it would be easier to set up a Monarch Cam.

Have you seen how fast and how much nervous little yappy dogs can run? Give them a royally-sized yard (or set of rooms) and it’d be a full time job aiming cams to keep Its Majesty in view.

That’s “His [or Her] Fuzzy Widdle Majesty” to you.

Or so she says: King Charles, Queen Camilla’s unconventional bedroom arrangement is secret sauce to staying together: expert

He should probably just go ahead and pay for his own security; I suspect he can afford it: Prince Harry Says His ‘Worst Fears Have Been Confirmed’ in Raw Comments After His Security Case (Exclusive)

It is not that- private security in the UK can not be armed.

To be a bit of a sexist git - Camilla’s looks were often disparaged; in the article photo, she has aged into a fine looking woman.

Agreed (not that you’re a sexist git), she’s never looked better. Even back in the day I thought “well, she’s not ‘Hollywood Beautiful’, but neither is Charles considered particularly handsome, so I think they make a good match”. Now they’re a smart looking couple.

That has proved to be a handicap for British royals in the past, as in the case of Prince Louis of Battenberg.

The King didn’t just stop there. In 1917, he changed the name of the British royal house from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor.

Wallis Simpson was no raving beauty either. But that wasnt her attraction to King Edward 8, it was- according to wiki-By the end of 1934, Edward was irretrievably besotted with Wallis, finding her domineering manner and abrasive irreverence toward his position appealing; in the words of his official biographer, he became “slavishly dependent” on her.

There were also lubricious rumours that she had some special sexual techniques acquired during her time in China, but that probably says far more about whoever started them than it does about her.

Charles has noticeably in the last ten years or so; he looks like an old man now.

Well, when you get, it tends to.
