Doesn’t matter. So long as he is Not Hillary, that checks all the boxes they care about.
He accepted the running-mate slot. If he has a functioning brain, it’ll be long gone by the time the election comes along.
Redstate has been in open revolt against Trump and one of the main hubs of nevertrump since the primaries began.
It isn’t so much that he’s a charlatan, it’s that he’s a charlatan they can’t rely on to stay bought.
With a normal scumbag, one who lives up to the normal standards of scummy politician quality, they can say “You got your position due to pandering to the religious right, so now you have to sponsor this legislation” and the scumbag will do it. As terrible as they are, they’re on their side in terms of voting against abortions and women’s health and treating gay and trans people like human begins. Their private life is only relevant when someone puts a camera in a restroom stall or something.
With Trump, he’s, frankly, not smart enough to be reliable that way. He’s going to rabbit in a dozen different directions, with no coherent policy even in his own mind, relying entirely on gut decisions and half-understood soundbites. And he’ll say things real politicians have the sense to never articulate, because they give the game away: Punishing women who get abortions is supposed to be subtext, not text, because it makes the misogyny underling the anti-choice position too obvious.
The recent revelations from his ghostwriter make this all too obvious. Trump is an outright liability to any political party he associates with.
Interesting how he blames Hitler on agnosticism, too.
So, it turns out Donald is “introducing” Melania for her speech tonight. Wanna bet he talks longer than she does?
Hmmm… He’s got family members speaking every night. Think he’ll introduce each of them? It’s an easy excuse to get himself behind the podium every night of the convention.
Duck dude and Chachi. What a fitting start to this circus.
I refuse to watch it. I’ll just want to punch something. I’ll catch salient points on news sites eventually.
Just talking about King.
Damn! I was having a drink and spit up on my keyboard! There’s just something about that logical and erudite explanation of the scumbaggery of Republicans!
When he “introduced” his VP pick, which is a pivotal moment in the campaign with all the interest focused on the new guy, most of it was about himself.
But family members are pretty good proxies for Trump himself. As Bill Maher put it, the convention will be almost entirely about Trump and his ejaculate.
No we’re not.
We are buying tickets to any venue where there are aisles so we can roll in them laughing or standing in mute wide eyed terror at the unveiling train-wreck.
Most commonly both, on very high rotation.
As I expected, a broken convention. While listening to music on a long drive I was surprised on the number of DJ’s that while telling their audience that they had no comment on who should win the election, a few did comment on how noticeable was that Trump and the Republicans just managed to get the C, D or even F quality celebrities/talent for the convention.
Hold the phone! Chachi supports Trump? Why didn’t he say something before my state’s primary?? Damn!
And in other news, Gov. Rick Perry’s family took in a down-on-his-luck Navy Seal, who as invited, showed up one day at the Gov. mansion, and provided him with the care he could not get from the V.A., so, Trump!
Remember when Republicans lambasted Bill Clinton for his lack of military service, Al Gore for exaggerating his accomplishments, John Kerry for his wealth and foreign-born wife, Barak Obama for his “celebrity” status? No? That’s OK, neither do they.
I am sorry for this woman, but it’s sickeningly cynical for them to put her out there like this.
Just a fantastic start. This should be one for the ages.
Hey! Give her a little credit!
After all, she is doing a job no American would want!
Was this guy in one of those Sharknado movies?
I loved the line, “My grandparents came here from Mexico.” The crowd didn’t seem to know whether to clap, boo, or cry.
Remember how the Republicans treated Cindy Sheehan and compare that to how they’re promoting Pat Smith. They don’t care either way. They’re just embracing the one who’s telling the story they want to hear. Pat Smith doesn’t deserve your sympathy. She’s turned her son’s death into a spectacle of mindless lies.
