Ohio Republicans flip-flopping on ballot measures and special elections. Moving the goalposts when it looks bad for their crusade to delete women’s rights.
“… The NAF has tracked anti-abortion harassment for five decades and has documented 11 murders, 42 bombings, 200 arsons, 531 assaults, 492 clinic invasions, 375 burglaries, and thousands of other criminal acts directed at patients, providers, and volunteers. Compared to 2021, the NAF found that, last year (the year Roe was overturned), there was a 229% increase in stalking, 231% increase in burglaries, and 100% increase in clinic arsons (from two cases in 2021 to four in 2022) at clinics across the country…”
“Law and order Steve, what are you talking about? The Groping Old Publicans want to murder women, doctors, immigrants, people who turn around in your driveway, are non-whites, who try to deliver your packages, or belong to the WRONG RELIGION”.
Ohio Repuglicans set up a special election in August (in violation of state law) to make it more difficult to amend their constitution, in a move to block an attempt to add an amendment codifying abortion access.
Republicans want voters to raise the threshold for approving future amendments to the Ohio Constitution from a simple majority to 60%, before a possible November ballot measure to codify abortion rights in the constitution. A group of doctors and citizens is currently gathering signatures to put an abortion rights amendment on the November ballot.
So this is just another ploy from their playbook: Say it’s up to states to decide if abortion should be allowed in their borders, then make it impossible for the citizens of the state to allow it.
Crushing hopes and dreams - 2023 and beyond - a GQP core platform.
It’s the next step following the Gangrenous Conservative Cesspool decision.
Logically, a separate minimum wage for non-whites is on the docket. (I kid - whoops, one of the deplorables will run with this).
