No for his latest crime; he was convicted and sentenced. However, he’s a rich, white, connected guy so he’s out on (eternal) appeal.
He did get an eleventh hour pardon from Trump for his participation in a scheme defrauding Trump supporters in a “build-the-wall” fund-raising effort. He pocketed a million dollars’ worth of the donations for himself.
He’s got a 4-month sentence hanging over his head for a conviction in his contempt of Congress trial. He’s currently been granted bail on appeal, so who knows how long before he actually surrenders to serve that sentence.
I am not a member of the democratic party, but I just HATE when people invariably blame the democrats when talking about how much the Republican party sucks. This whataboutism or bothsidesism or whatever it is is just bullshit. The democratic party does a fine job of exposing the GOP agenda, but the billionaire owned media has no motivation to help them spread the message and there is an army of people like you on the internet that yells both sides suck every time we try to discuss the GOP agenda. The problem is not the dems.

Florida lawmakers to consider weakening century-old child labor laws
A proposed Republican bill to loosen child labor laws in Florida is part of a national trend aimed at repealing or weakening workplace protections for young people that have been in place for more than 100 years.
The bill could worsen graduation rates and hurt lower-income families, experts said, and could also be a way to replace some immigrant labor as Florida and other GOP-led states continue to crack down on undocumented workers.
“Are we willing to return to a world where we accept that children of the poorest families are working more than full-time jobs under hazardous conditions?” said Jennifer Sherer, director of the Economic Analysis and Research Network at the nonprofit Economic Policy Institute.
State Rep. Linda Chaney, though, said in a statement that her bill “intends to provide teenagers with the flexibility to work whatever hours they deem fits best with their schedule and financial goals.”
“Families are struggling in the worst economy in decades and I want to do what I can to help by providing opportunity,” said Chaney, R-St. Petersburg. “Government should not be in the way of people wanting to learn skills and make a living.”
There’s a lot to unpack in the full article, but let’s go with these two. First, I guess the declining graduation rate won’t matter so much what with Florida’s government being hell-bent on removing all value from a Florida diploma. Next, ah, yes, “learning skills”. I guess we really have gone full circle to having children basically being slave labor. You remember that benefit for Blacks back in the day, right? Seriously, how am I arguing against someone learning valuable skills.

This opinion piece lays out the GOP’s support of Israel vs. unconcern with Ukraine. I happen to agree with the points made here, and feel that it’s certainly an example of evil. Greed allowing them to pick and choose who dies and who gets our support. Please note, I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t support Israel, just that their choice is stark in its hypocrisy.
