Senator Cruz was just on a Texas political news show blabbing his usual Trump ass-kissing lies.
He tried to argue Democrats aren’t in favor of Democracy. He pointed out three states trying to get Trump thrown off the ballot. Nevermind Trump’s actions leading up to and including Jan. 6, which he conveniently ignored.
When the host tried to bring up Jan. 6, Cruz then tried to argue the usual MAGA talking point about how we’ve never prosecuted an ex-President before. He said something like,
“In the history of our country, we’ve never had a former President of our country -” COMMIT A CRIME! Oh wait, that was me.
But I would point out we never had one prosecuted because Nixon was pardoned before it happened.
It’s so infuriating. Cruz is smart enough to know what he’s saying is nonsense, spin, distortion, and lies. But he spews out this nonsense in service of a man he despises because his own supporters are in thrall of a conman. He knows his party base is too deluded to listen to reality, and his own political power comes from continuing the misinformation bubble.
So apparently there’s this new, popular sport of slap dueling. I haven’t paid much attention to it, but I would sign up for a chance to duel that smug bastard.
Ok, I can’t say 100% that the person who called in the police on McCaffery was a Republican, but it seems pretty likely, right? And it could have gone badly.
Honest question- are the Republicans overreacting to Andy Beshears comments to JD Vance?
He’s claiming Beshear was wishing someone in Vance’s family to be raped.
“Should a woman be forced to carry a child to term after she has been the victim of incest or rape?” a Spectrum News reporter asked Vance.
“It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term. It’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society,” he replied.
This morning, on MSNBC, Beshear said: (Yahoo link)
“Think about what some people have had to go through because of these laws. J.D. Vance calls pregnancy resulting from rape ‘inconvenient.’ Inconvenience is traffic. I mean it’s — make him go through this,”
Here is the Republican/Vance response (also from Yahoo):
Republicans are interpreting the governor’s comments as a suggestion that a member of the Vance family be raped. The senator asked, “What the hell is this?” along with a clip of the Beshear interview in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Why is @AndyBeshearKY wishing that a member of my family would get raped?!?” Vance said. “What a disgusting person.”
Overreaction? Yes, IMO. Probably a poor choice of words from Beshear, but nowhere did he imply that anybody should be raped.
What a bunch of fucking assholes. It is abundantly clear that Beshear meant that JD Vance has NO IDEA what it is like to endure this. (Nor do I thankfully).
Not a member of your family… YOU. I want J. D. Fucking Vance to experience what it’s like to get raped, then carry your rapist’s fetus for 9 months, then give birth to your rapist’s baby, before you pronounce such a thing “inconvenient”.
I can be fair, I won’t demand his rape and biologically impossible pregnancy if he shuts his pie hole about how carrying the baby of your rapist to term is a inconvenience.
I’m glad you asked for clarification, but realize that you could have googled it yourself. Make sure that what you find is from a mainstream news source, like NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, etc. Not Fox.
