The Republican Party is the Party of Evil

For those who don’t want watch the video, the state of Colorado is being sued by the group that runs the ICE facility in Aurora. The group is claiming that allowing health inspections is unconstitutional.

Oh good. Now we can add “liberate the camps detention centers” to the long list of things to be done once we get these shitheels out of power.

At least we can re-use them as re-education camps for MAGA cult members.

What part of the Constitution is this purported to violate?

Here’s the relevant paragraph:

Does the federal contract include a clause prohibiting inspections? And if so, does the federal government have an enumerated power that enables it to prohibit inspections?

Contracts aside, let’s assume that GEO has been told directly by Markwayne Mullin that if they allow liberals into their facility for any reason, they’ll have their contract canceled under some nebulous clause.

I say, so what? It’s a private company operating on private land that just happens to have a contract with the federal government. If the federal government yanks the contract that’s not the state’s problem.

It’d be like if McDonald’s corporate told a franchisee that they’d lose their franchise contract if they allowed health inspectors in. That’s a beef between the franchise and corporate, the state is just doing its thing.

It would be different if the facility were on federal land, naturally.

So admittedly this kid may not be a Republican, he’s just related to one who’s fairly well-known (Lauren Boebert) but it doesn’t speak well of her that her kid shared a video featuring images of minors.

Like father, like son.

According to Boebert’s arrest affidavit written by Garfield County Sheriff’s Office investigators, he is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl when he was 18.

So this confused me for just a minute, because after checking in Colorado this is not a statutory rape situation. In fact 17 is the legal age of consent in Colorado, even beyond the state’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ statute.

The issue is apparently specifically the video - it is illegal to record, share or possess explicit video of anyone under the age of 18. So it was legal for them to actually have sex, but making a video of it was automatically child pornography. Apparently there is at least a thoughtful carve out in Colorado for peer-to-peer sexting between teens that downgrades it from a felony. But that doesn’t apply in Boebert’s situation.

Of course sharing it online makes him an asshole regardless, so whatever.

Yeah, the 17/18 pairing is pretty :man_shrugging:as far as crimes go in my book provided everyone is consenting, but the recording and sending out the video is the real creep factor, not to mention the other images and videos.

I have no words:

Wisconsin Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman has argued that Congress “should do a little more” to help wealthy Americans.

The six-term congressman, 71, a Donald Trump loyalist, spoke up for neglected U.S. elites Thursday during a panel discussion on the economy in Troy, Michigan, with that state’s GOP gubernatorial candidate Rep. John James, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise and other officials.

Deplorables, all of them.

This made me snort my milk.

They want to pull the ladder up behind themselves.

Mike Caruso, a Republican official in Florida, has been arrested for child molesting. The victim is his five year old grandson who he (allegedly) molested on at least three different occasions.

Caruso is a former member of the Florida legislature and when he was he helped enact a law which authorizes the death penalty for child molesters. So Caruso now faces the possibility that he will be executed by a law he helped enact.

Bonus point: When Caruso was a Florida state legislator, his district included Mar-a-Lago. So Caruso literally represented Donald Trump.

Wow, that is a two-fer.

Mike Caruso, a Republican official in Florida, has been arrested for child molesting. The victim is his five year old grandson who he (allegedly) molested on at least three different occasions.

First, there’s the typical every accusation is a confession. Caruso is concerned about child molestation because he’s a child molestor.

Caruso is a former member of the Florida legislature and when he was he helped enact a law which authorizes the death penalty for child molesters.

Second, there’s the Republican idea that criminal punishment should be harsh to discourage the crime. But somehow the death penalty wasn’t enough discouragement to stop Caruso from molesting a child.

How long before the Florida governor pardons Caruso for “reasons”, like a large bank transfer?

Likely he assumed “they’ll never go after me because I called for the Death Penalty, so they think I’m the last guy to molest a kid”----or something to that effect.

The human power of rationalization is particularly developed in the Evil.

Well not on my EVIL bingo card but should have been.
