I wouldn’t go that far. His participation in the committee investigating Jan. 6 would qualify as “action” if they moved at a less glacial pace.
Plus, he’s retiring anyway, so switching parties would be a pretty empty move at this point.
But IMO it’s long past time for the handful of sane congressional Republicans to do more than furrow their brows and express concern. If you agree with Kinzinger that the core of the GOP are anti-democratic loons, changing to Independent status and caucusing with Democrats is the best, most visible and most right way to make your point.
Nah, they still believe that they are saving the GOP by their actions. And they would never in a million years switch to the other party, I mean, really, join up with those people? What I am saying is that they, like so many, have so internalized the literal demonization of the Democratic party that it is not an option to switch.
I know that. I’m just saying what I believe they should do. As for what they are doing, I say “thank you” but also “fuck you a little.”
