The Republican Party is the Party of Evil

I certainly see the problem. I just don’t believe the best solution is hate. It isn’t a zero-sum game. That is, the attitude “if your team is going to hate the people I like, then my team gets to hate the people you like,” is not going anywhere except to further division. If that’s your goal, well, don’t let me stop you.

I believe, however, there is a better way. From what I can figure out, from lurking right-wing boards as well as published polls, Republicans are accepting same-sex marriage. Yes, there is vocal opposition, but since many Republicans have family members, friends, and colleagues who are gay, they accept it. Having it supported by the SC actually makes things easier for them. Let me remind you that same-sex marriage is something that even Democrats weren’t willing agree on during Obama’s first campaign.

My point is that compromise works. Attitudes change. But, if you try to force everyone to accept your most radical positions before you can move forward, all you are going to do is cause further division. That’s the right’s strategy. This is fine if you want do destroy. But, if you want America to progress, that isn’t going to work. That’s how I see the difference.

When one side, the right, is obviously forcing everyone to accept their most radical positions infinitely more so than from the left, then there will always be divisiveness, regardless of how much we attempt to reach out and empathize with them. I wish I could be more upbeat about this, but it’s really darned trying.

This is a similar argument used during the civil
Rights era, when demonstrators for justice and equality were told to be patient and wait for gradual change and to stop bucking the system. No. Evil must NOT be tolerated. Injustice must NOT be coddled. Wanting basic human dignity is NOT a radical position.

You can’t compromise with people who want you dead.

Well it depends on what kind of compromise we are talking about here, because that is what John Cena said about Osama Bin Laden:

I walk out here every night with hustle, loyalty and respect on my sleeve. That is a credo I’ve adopted from the men and women who defend the freedom of this country. The President has just announced that we have caught and compromised - to a permanent end - Osama bin Laden

Here is the video in case you are wondering: https://youtu.be/6maL6gq6qME

It’s all in here; racism, fighting for the “Republic”, we are the real victims, etc…

"…“If we don’t stick together, if you don’t believe we’re at war for our republic, with all love and respect to you, you need a different job. The left wants Tennessee so bad…This is not a neighborhood social gathering. We are fighting for the republic of our country right now.”

Other Republicans in the audio echoed Cepicky, complaining and painting themselves as victims. “I listened for the last three days to Democrats trash us as racist. I’ve never had anybody call me a racist. And for the last three days, all I’ve heard from them is how this is the most racist place—one of them even [said] white supremacist,” state Rep. Jason Zachary told his colleagues in the audio."

They are scum. They are racist. They are evil. It’s war for them.

Awwww. They hurt poor Republican feewings. Nobody has dared call them out before for what they are. Now they are all butt-hurt.

“It’s all YOUR FAULT for calling us out on our racist actions! YOU’RE the mean ones!”

Which civil rights leader was it who said “Get your boot off of my grandmother’s neck, not when you’re good and ready, NOW, damn it!”?

You mean radical positions like transgender people aren’t freaks just trying to prey on little girls, or like abortion should be legal and accessible in all 50 states without politicians intruding on women’s personal health decisions?

Or maybe radical positions like all citizens should have easy access to voting, and crazies shouldn’t be allowed to hang out around polling places with guns trying to intimidate voters who aren’t white enough (and liberals by definition aren’t white enough)?

Our how about the radical position that even ex-presidents should be held accountable to the law, and trying to overthrow an election is a crime and not a “peaceful demonstration”?

Man, if that doesn’t sound like you’re on the slip & slide to fascism I don’t know what does!

Yes, those are exactly the radical positions that get rolled up into the woke/crt/grooming hysteria of the right.

The Democrats have compromised and compromised and compromised. Hell, the country itself was founded on the great compromise. But it’s never enough, no matter how far we reach out, they just pull further back.

I’d like to see what posters like @excavating_for_a_mind thinks a compromise that the Republican party would accept would look like.

And even if s/he came up with one, what credible evidence could be offered they would keep their word?

Whatever compromise position the Democrats concede to will automatically be relabeled as “Far Left!!!”, and the Republicans will demand that they again “compromise” and move farther to the right.

I think it was Trevor Noah who said this: “They don’t like being called racists, but they like being racists”.

Back to one of the recent lines in this thread. Yes, I do consider those scum in the Qliban/Y’allqueda/GQP/Trump-worshiping cult to be my fellow citizens. I also consider them to be 100% anti-American and supportive of obvious traitors. Yet, they are still citizens and, as such, shold be held accountable for their crimes when they commit crimes (such as treason and election fraud) and for their publicly stated positions.

Relevant:

If reflexive compromisers don’t wake up, they will find themselves surprised when the Overton window they keep trying to reach through becomes a guillotine.

[off-topic] Their smoked Spanish paprika is amazing, and makes me take back all the nasty things I’ve said about paprika. [/off-topic]

It’s particularly galling to see women standing up and cheerfully supporting certain extreme Republican ideals. Yeah, stand there and clap for the abortion ban, with no thought as to what’s going to happen if you end up with a condition like an ectopic pregnancy.

Well, of course, that’s because the Democrats are incredibly sneaky. Since we know their end goal is, was, and always shall be the complete destruction of America, any so-called “compromise” that they’d actually agree to must secretly be what they wanted all along, and so is obviously part of their far-left woke commie fascist plan to make us all gay transgendered pedophile vegan cuck libtards.

And you thought we’d fall for that!

/s

A lot of them probably suffer from the delusion someone once called “The Shirley Exception”.

“Yes, this bill bans ‘all abortions’ after 6 weeks, but surely there will be an exception in the case of an ectopic pregnancy!”

Well, no, not so much. Essentially they don’t understand/believe that these laws really are just as awful as they sound. But Surely they can’t be that awful, can they? That would mean that we are that awful!

This kind of denial/delusion works great right up until the Leopard of Reality starts eating your face.

It’s how you get people supporting fascists.

Sure, their policies and their methods are right in line with fascism, but Surely they aren’t really fascists!
