Planet Coaster is now on Steam. You can pre-purchase it for $40.49, or get “thrillseeker edition” plus early access for $45. By a strange coincidence, my wife and I celebrated our anniversary a few days ago and she was talking about buying me a Steam card…
Glorious! I have to watch it again!
The more videos I see, the better it’s looking. It needs to do more than look pretty though, I hope there’s a decent tycoon sim holding it together.
There’s going to be access to the planet coaster alpha for people who ordered the thrill seeker edition, which should include people who preordered for $30 on Frontier’s store, from Oct 6-10. They later get beta access also.
If you ordered Planet Coaster on Frontier’s store page you can redeem it on your steam account now.
It appears that I bought the Thrillseeker edition, so I’ll get a play with it this weekend. Might even pull me away from Elite for a bit!
Was sad that they used Waltz of the Flowers instead of Blue Danube as the background music. The latter would have been a nice little Easter Egg.
Planet Coaster beta for thrillseeker preorders on Nov 9. Although to be honest that’s so close to release I think I’m just gonna skip it and wait for the final game to release.
Planet Coaster beta is now live. You download it on steam through the normal Planet Coaster library entry.
It looks like all the sim aspects of the game are now officially in (minus some scenarios reserved for final)?
Getting the itch…
RCTW (which is currently in early access) moved its release date up to tomorrow, in a very silly attempt to grab attention by releasing one day earlier than Planet Coaster. It might be worth getting down the road in a sale, but even then… PC seems to do most things much better.
I’ll create a seperate Planet Coaster thread later today so we can discuss the game and share our creations there. You can make blueprints and parks and share them on the steam workshop and link to them.
I feel like they probably should’ve delayed PC a little bit. They’re rushing out a bunch of rides and UI improvements in the last patch before the game releases, feels like it’s a bit crammed. Should’ve gave it an extra 2-3 weeks to get interface feedback from the beta and add that stuff at a more relaxed pace. But it’s definitely not broken - the beta plays pretty well in the limited time I’ve spent with it.
With Planet Coaster launching I went ahead and made a new thread for discussion/sharing/etc.
