Well, since the boat we were looking at cost more than every house we ever bought (except this one) I’m pretty sure we won’t be buying. We don’t need to be carrying 2 mortgages as we near retirement. Yanno, up till he had to discuss his studliness, I thought he was a rather decent fellow.
TMI, dude…
First load of jeans is out on the line, second is in the washer. Kitchen trash has gone out, recycling bag has been changed out. It’s a brisk 43° at the moment, so the house is closed, and considering it’s barely supposed to touch the 60s today, I may not be able to open up at all. Why did we go so abruptly from summer to autumn? I had barely 2 weeks when I could leave my windows open. Stoopit weather…
Opened the utility (gas & electric) bill on Thurs. Woohoo! It was one of those few that’s only double digits because this time of year HVAC system isn’t used. Apparently, it’s still too early to turn on the heater, despite frost warnings last night. I know this because heater refused to come on, thus a low of 62° INSIDE this morning. Call to HVAC has been placed. I know 'Nothing stops a Trane", but how do you start one?
But luckily not my heater. Stoopit new-fangled heater. It is < 2 yrs old; one of the 95% efficient ones with external intake & exhaust pipes. Some leaves got in the intake pipe & was clogging it so it wouldn’t come on. It ended up costing less than the 'lectric bill. Of course, thermostat is now back in ‘off’ position since the sun is up & warming us a bit.
Four loads of clothes are on the lines, and the last load is in the washer - it’s destined for the dryer since I’ve run out of clothesline space, and it’s unders, which are tedious to hang - many many little pieces…
**FCD **had repaired the part of the chimney that’s supposed to seal the flue. Apparently the previous owners did some mickey-mouse repairs and it was leaking, as evidenced by the rusty water coming out from under the fireplace insert. Anyway, it’s all sealed now, so yay! And the guy from the fireplace insert place is supposed to come Tuesday to check it all out. Yay for that, too!
It’s been a busy morning… I’s hongree - time for lunch!!!
It’s been a busy morning already. We were out the door at 9:00 to drop my husband’s car off for a tune up and oil change. After that, we ran to the bank, got a certified check, and then off to the UPS store to mail it out next day air.
We came back home, and I finished loading the dishwasher and it’s running now. I need to dust and vacuum and wash the floor. Rain, plus letting dogs out to do their business, then letting them back in makes for muddy paw prints.
In an hour or two, we need to pick up the hubby’s car and then the plan is to drop mine there for a tune up and oil change.
Hubby is also going to pick up the groceries for the meal he wants to prepare for us and our friends tonight.
I slept in, whee! Forgot what that is like MrTao kept the animals wrangled until he left around 9, at which point they all jumped on me 'cause they lost their entertainments.
I dreamed that San Diego had instituted a ‘No Escalation’ law, meaning <in the dream> that you were not allowed to use a gun in any threatening situation, even if there was another gun involved. MrTao <in the dream> said “Fark that!” and we were moving to Colorado.
Colorado has guns still, right? WE don’t, but it seemed important to be able to at the time.
Time to caffeinate! And yeah, the weather here looks like it’s gonna go from too hot to too cold in a really short time, yuck. Autumn’s my favorite time of year, I want it to last as long as possible!
You know, I’m really going to have to learn to make sense of your 'Murrican temperatures, they confuse me… I only ever used efficient European degrees, and I can never work out if all these numbers mean you’re hot, cold, or frozen solid.
It’s pretty chilly here for october, but actually got some sun for a change, amongst the showers. Went for a very muddy walk.
Racked my blackberry booze today- that is, siphoned it to a new container, 'cos otherwise the dead yeast that builds up the the bottom can make the taste go funny, if you’re not up on your brewing terms. Had a tiny taste, and it seems to be actually almost drinkable! Should still be a few months 'til it’s properly ready though. Starting off a batch of mixed plum too today, which is all exciting…
Oh, and my cousin made it through the meeting without any unexpected babbies- her previous one was waaaay late (nearly 3 weeks IIRC!), so she’ll probably be a while yet. It went OK- the previous meeting wound up being a bit too accounts heavy (cousin 'n husband being both accountants), but this one finally started getting to the stuff I can have a bit of imput in, which is good.
**Filbert **- here’s an easy-ish rule of thumb - mid-60s-mid-70s = nice, pleasant, maybe a light jacket at most. 80s = warm, 90s and up = HOT 40s-50s = brisk/chilly, 32= freezing. Below freezing is unfit weather for man and beast! I took a meteorology class, so I should know!
I think my dryer load is about done. Daughter just arrived with Cozmo. Woohoo!!
Your choice. :D;)
It looks like I’ll be heading out to a haunted house with a group of teenage girls (including Dave’s nieces) tonight. I’ve never been to one in my whole life so it should be interesting. I’m a bit concerned about uneven ground vs. my torn meniscus, so I’m going to take my cane with me.
Thoughts on first experiences at a haunted house??
Laundry is done, daughter, boats, and associated stuff is all gone. I’m about to put on some sweats to veg the night away. Near as I can tell, there’s nothing planned for tomorrow - huzzah for relaxation!
I thought it was butterscotch pudding behind the knees but, “Howse you doin’?”
I’m outside cleaning the deck & apparently the pressure in the hose is too much cause it blows out the plastic adjustment tab on back of the nozzle creating an instant shower, which was a good thing since it was too cold to take one this morning. :smack:
