THE scene you think of when remembering a series?

This is a list of moments, or even episodes that immediately spring to mind when thinking about the series as a whole. It doesn’t have to be the most shocking or funny moment, but obviously might be in some cases.

For me: When I think of Seinfeld, I always think of “The Bet” episode.

Homicide: LotS - Pembleton in dress blues, saluting for the funeral procession of the detective (whose name I don’t recall) who commited suicide.

Futurama- The dog waiting for Fry to return, followed by the clips of Leela’s parents helping her out during the years.

Angel - “Can you fly?”

Firefly - Mal entering and shooting Dobson without breaking stride.

Buffy - Darla vamping and biting the jock from the pilot teaser.

“Freaks and Geeks”: Maureen going to sit at the popular kids’ table at lunch.

The Defiant joining the massive Federation and Klingon fleet in the last seconds of Call to Arms for Deep Space Nine. Just got a little goosebumpy thinking about it now.

The Tick: (animated series): when the bad guys are going to blow up the dam unless their demands are met, but no one can understand their emands because heir leather masks don’t have mouth holes and they are yelling: “Mmmm mffft mmnn mmmmrrr mmmm!”

Damn…damm… DAY-UM!

The Wire: first season; D’Angelo’s lesson to the pit crew about the guy who invented the McNugget

Buffy: the end of season two; when Angelus asks her what she’s got left and makes with the stabby stabby. That whole duel, really.

The Office: Jim, Pam, casino night.

Six Feet Under - Claire Fisher driving away from LA, down that long deserted road with a beautiful Sia song playing, I cried like a baby (maybe cuz it was the end of the series? duh)

Arrested Development - the final scene from “The Ocean Walker” episode. It was the perfect bookend to a multi episode arc capped off by my favorite quote from the series: Tobias screaming out, “Why am I not going under water? DEAR GOD WHY AM I NOT GOING UNDER WATER?!?”

From the third season of Babylon 5, the episode “Passing Through Gethsemane”, the scene in which Brother Edward explains the core of his faith to Ambassador Delenn.

Saved By the Bell- the caffeine freakout.

WKRP “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

Might I interest you in a t-shirt?

Babylon 5: Marcus Cole while fighting Neroon: “We are Rangers. We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge, and no one may pass! We live for the one, WE DIE FOR THE ONE!” (yeah yeah, it’s one of the worst episodes in the series, but that once scene just embodies Marcus and the Rangers.)

Friends: “Crystal duck?”

The X-Files: Mulder and Scully playing baseball together, late at night.

CSI: Grissom putting his hand on the glass coffin case, deep in the grave, trying to calm Nick down.

Rome: Caesar smiling to himself when he hears the triumph / decision being made outside and the crowd roars.

Deadwood: “Be brief.” “Be fucked!”

Lost: The quarantine door sizzling in the sand, Bernard and Claire standing just a short distance away.

Batman: Catwoman’s paunchy, humiliated-looking henchmen in cat suits getting their asses kicked by B and R.

The Office (UK): David Brent’s dancing at the end of series 2. “I’ve sort of fused Flashdance and MC Hammer sh*t.”

**Arrested Development: ** David Cross as Ms. Featherbottom doing a Mary Poppins off the second floor railing onto the coffee table. I’m laughing now just thinking about it.

When I think of B5, I usually think of EAS Agamemmnon emerging from the fireball of the exploding Global Orbital Defense (G.O.D.) satelite at the end of Season 4. Alternately, Ivonova’s White Star flying through the exploding wreckage of the Shadow Scout, with Sheridan finalizing his divorce being a distant third.

If all else fails, I just think of Ivonova’s sex scene (BOOM shuba-lubba-lubba…)

Dr. Who: “EX-TER-MIN-ATE!”

Stargate SG1: thump

Seinfeld: During the episode “The Contest” Kramer is staring at a naked woman across the street, leaves the apartment for a minute or two, comes back and slams money on the table and announces he’s out.

Simpson: “I’ll get you beer baron”

The Office: The basketball game

Cheers: Probably the end of the episode, It’s a Wonderful Wife, where Vera works at Melville’s to be closer to Norm.

NewsRadio: The scene were Jimmy James does a reading of his book that has been translated from English to Japanese and back to English.

E.R. The scene where Dr. Hathaway goes to meet Dr. Ross.

Rosanne: The scene where Darlene reads her poem

Green Wing: The “HOMO” blimp.

Ugly Betty: Her “makeover” near the beginning of the series.
