The SDMB Football Pool (free)

Wow, Sybill, er, I mean rockle, you’re not conflicted, are you?

Yeah, so I suppose I ought to explain myself there, eh? (Not that anyone cares, really, but I feel like sharing, so deal.)

~ I was born, raised, and live just up the Turnpike from Philly, and I consider myself a Philly girl, so first and foremost, I love them E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles. Also the Phillies, the 76ers, and the Flyers, but none of them play football, so at the moment they are irrelevant. (Actually, 'cept for the Flyers, they are usually irrelevant in their respective sports anyway - but unless you are from Philly, you better not say that, or we will poison your cheesesteak.)

~ I went to kollidge in upstate New York - Syracuse, to be exact - and there is something in the water or something, because everyone I knew became a Bills fan after like a week at school. This is OK with me, because way back then the Bills were still regularly in the Super Bowl, whereas the Eagles were decidely not. Plus, the Bills are AFC and the Eagles are NFC, so I could cheer for both teams in the same week and it was not usually a problem.

~ Tom Brady is a fairly recent development. I don’t particularly care about the Pats, but Brady is foine and I wouldn’t mind being his babies’ mama, except that I am married to someone else, and I couldn’t take the guilt. Still, he makes nice eye candy (kinda of like Brett Favre did before he got old) and I like to watch him.

~ Every team / person I like is “my beloved” thus-and-such.

And you want to talk really conflicted? You should be in our house during football season! chembug is a Steelers fan, so he basically hates the entire AFC (except for the Steelers, obviously). I dare not mention that Kordell Stewart is the anti-Christ, even though he so obviously is.

The only thing we usually agree on is that Denver sucks.

Kester’s Pigskin Picks is yours truly–I did it to match my Yahoo ID.

Wilson Pick-its are in as well.
All set to lose by picking the Jets each week!

Heh. Wilson Pick-its… Very clever, very clever!

I said na, na na na na na …

%^$$#@^%!!! or some such nonsense is my name.

Thanks, glad someone appreciates it!
Just don’t ask me to sing.

And remember, if you’re interested in a slightly more competitive league, join Group ID # 674 pw “pork”.

So what happened? There were 40+ pickers last year! Where is everybody?

No relation. Don’t know a single person on the SDMB, and few relatives know of my moniker, being a drug reference and all. But pleased to meet you.

Forgot about the pool, to be honest, but have rejoined the SDMB and just now set my week 1 picks. (Forgot my yahoo ID and password…yahoo was a big pain in the ass about giving me my p/w, but all is well now.)

I was away since the 13th, being immersed in Madden 2004. (My Giants are 3-2, with attendance at 95% and rising! Go me.)

The big apple will dominate this season. Both conference championship games will be played in East Rutherford. Followed, of course, by a subway superbowl.

It’s not The Chad.

Go Big Blue!

I was wondering where this one was… can you bump the thread?

And Ellis, it is the Chad. And in a FFL draft last night I was unsuccessful in lobbying my co-owners in taking Tiki over Curtis last night, so we have the J-E-T instead. Probably given a big mistake given his surrounding cast, but one never knows.

I’m in under the nom de guerre muldoonssquishiness.

Go, whatever team I happen to pick every week.

I do not play favorites and I have no favorite team that I will pick no matter how bad they suck.

In other words, I have no alligences.

Sadly, Tiki isn’t a great fantasy pick. Curtis is a better pick all things being equal. But Chad went down, so Curtis will get more carries, making him a even better pick. Now factor in the Jets incredibly effective run-blocking O-Line with my poor Giants’ hapless and woefully inept O-Line, and Curtis should double Tiki’s fantasy numbers.

Having said all that, Jim McNally is so unbelievably good that the Giants’ O-Line will probably (once again) overperform beyond belief, so Tiki will do better than he should on paper. (Jim’s the O-Line coach for those of you who don’t bleed blue.)

Who in the world would take Martin over Barber in fantasy football?!? Barber’s Top 10 material, Martin’s therapy table material.

Did some poking around, and it seems my info is a bit outdated. Tiki is considered second tier at #11, while Curtis is considered fourth tier at #19.

Damn, you did get screwed.

Yeah. Tiki not a good pick? I hate him, and his team, but he’ll touch the ball more times than any non-QB this season. Ellis, where’d you get those rankings from? My own rankings have Tiki at 10th and, amazingly, Martin at 19th. I’m curious to find out what expert was cribbing from my cheat sheet.
Shibb, I never started a thread actually. I’ll do that in a minute, hopefully it’s not too late to get some more players – although some have already left for this group because of the lure of prizes. I advertised it here and in some fantasy threads. I’m still proud of myself for acting so early, 3-digit league ID# makes me an O.G.

Muahahaha! My lure of prizes is working! My evil plans are afoot!!! Muahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa!

My bone-headed co-owners, one of whom strongly lets his personal feelings about teams influence his pick. Okay, both of them do that. Well, I’ve made a memo about it and now can lord it over them if we lose games because of the pick. If we win I’ll keep silent about it, of course.

Oh, and WL, you gotta have a thread, man! All the cool kids are doing it. And you have about 24 hours to get more fish into the sea.

Shamelessly googled. I typed in “fantasy football rb rankings” and the second site in the list had the rankings I quoted. I have no idea of the reliability of the rankings since I’ve never taken part in a FFL. Hope the site is helpful as a reference for you.
