I was terrified of the scale this week because I (once again) didn’t do as well as I told myself I would.
Sundays are the worst. I’m depressed that Monday is coming and use that as an excuse to eat whatever I want… Pfft.
I asked El Hubbo for help today and he is willing. Maybe he’ll start POINTing it, too.
We had a Weight Watchers Pot Luck Lunch at work today. Eight women and one man, lots of good food and whaddaya know, I didn’t pig out. Only ate nine points of food (including a 3-point brownie) and felt great. We had one woman attend who has lost 56 pounds and has about 18 to go. She’s so positive, upbeat and funny… WW leader material, if I ever did see it.
Well, I’m back from vacation (Washington D.C. was just beautiful, by the way), and I managed to stay on track throughout it all. I walked my ass off! Completely figuratively, unfortunately, but I feel great and will be back at the gym tomorrow to do it some more. Weigh in for me will be tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it! Thanks for the tips and motivation, everyone!
Sometimes you just have to bow to the goddess of Serendipity.
I started WW on April 14 and I just ran across this thread today. No possible way this could be a mere coincidence….
Two years ago I was on WW and managed to lose 49 pounds over the course of five months. Then the office furniture market went sour and I was “downsized” (insert ironic facial expression here) from my marketing job at a major office furniture manufacturer and my commitment to pretty much everything went out the window for a few months.
Well, I’m back in the ranks of the employed and I am resolved to lose a significant amount of weight. I currently weigh 322 and my goal weight is 220. The WW charts recommend an ideal weight of 180 for my age and height. I don’t think this is a realistic goal given my body type and frame. I haven’t weighed 180 since I was a junior in high school, and I was in pretty good shape then.
Anyway, I find the WW points system provides an easy to follow, logical structure that provides the flexibility I need to stay on plan. So far this week I’ve not exceeded my points allotment and I have even managed to bank a few points for the upcoming holiday weekend. I’ll be curious to see what the scale says on Monday.
What I’ve found helps me is that as soon as I get home from work, before I do anything else, I change and get my run in. That way I don’t have time to get distracted by something else, and put it off. Only takes about an hour, then I’m done for the night. Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it. Is it one that has pre-programed workouts? I found that sometimes those were good, because I didn’t have to think about what to do.
Well, it was not weigh in day for me, but I sneaked a peek anyway. And I’ve broken the 235-238 seesaw! I’m down to 234! I know, that’s tiny, but at least I have my first net loss in over three weeks!
Had my weigh & measure at the gym on Thursday. I’ve lost 8.5 inches overall since March 19, and 10 lbs since then, 8.08 of which are fat. My body fat percentage went down 1.6% as well. Total weight lost as of that day was 18 lbs.
Yesterday, I encountered an evil, sinister presence at the gym. The gym refers to these satanic machines at EFX. I don’t know what that stands for, only that the “E” is for “Evil”! It’s an elliptical stair-stepper type machine. “It’s a much more efficient workout than the treadmill” a woman at the gym told me. It must be, because today, I feel like the backs of my legs, from ankles to upper thighs, have been beaten with two-by-fours!!
Down another pound, for a total of 39. Only 76 to go! Have lost 6 inches off my waist.
My partner gave me a chocolate bar from Yamate Chocolatiers. It claims to have only 2 net carbs (made with maltitol), no sugars, and no sodium. It has a pretty high fat content, but states that cocoa butter is not such a bad deal where fat is concerned. I found it tasty (similar to bittersweet chocolate, but not as sugary) and it did not raise my blood sugar appreciably. It was a nice surprise.
Well, I spent the week before last feeling bloated - like what I’ve been trying to do was useless. On top of that, I gave into the chocolate cravings.
BUT, I’m back on the wagon this week, and I know I can make it. I just wish that the pool in my complex would open so I could do that instead of walking around the parking lot. There aren’t many little kids in my complex, and I could go do that every day before I head to campus. Plus, I stress wicked bad about the parking-lot circuit because the residents here drive like maniacs. Well, some of them do.
Still haven’t touched a scale, but I feel like I’m back where I was before the chocolate fiasco. The jeans are loose again (I’m convincing myself they’re actually looser than they were, but I’m not positive…and I don’t want to delude myself).
Someone mentioned the sugar free Reeses cups–where can you find those? My chocolate cravings have been intense lately (just figured out why when I looked at the calendar ), so I was hoping for a fix that was sugar free and easy on the guilt factor.
I just wanted to say that Splenda is a god send! you get your sugar fix without the calories or the worry about various cancers from aspartame, etc.
Also, for the ladies, though Shape magazine may seem like all the other gimicky girly mags, it’s got some great advice and nutrition articles. it seriously helped me loose 30 pounds last year.
(i promise this is not a paid endorsement, just two things that made weight loss infinitely easier for me. Now i just have to find some more motivation to lose the flabby 10 pounds I re-gained!)
I don’t know about your area, but I found some at the local Wal-Mart, which also sells a brand of sugar-free chocolate bars called DeLite. In the DeLite, the dark chocolate is so good, I haven’t gotten around to trying anything else. My recommendations for the Hershey’s sugar-free is, the Reese’s cups are very good, the dark chocolate is very good, and the milk chocolate with almonds sucks. The Hershey’s sugar-free is about half the cost, per ounce, as the DeLite bars.
I bought some Splenda last grocery store trip, but have not tried it yet. I only bought it to bake with since I am quite happy with the generic nutrasweet I buy. I bake a mean chocolate cake and I’m anxious to see if it will be as good with the Splenda.
Thanks, norinew. I checked at the supermarket when I was there last week but didn’t see them–I’ll be checking Walmart next time I’m in the area (which will probably be soon now )
