The SDMB World Poker Tour on Pokertropolis......Rude and Grim when you go All-In

Last hand:

nesta: Kh, Qh
Yeti: 78 something

Flop: 8h 3h Tc

Some action, nesta ends up all in for 3930.

Turn: 10h, giving me the flush
River: 8s, Yeti sucking out for the full house

GG Yeti.

OK, there are a few problems. The current thread is at 10 pages. Despite having read them all, I could not get a 100% score on:

Finding the appropriate web site.
Figuring out how to get into the site.
Finding the game.
Figuring out how to get into the game.
Figuring out how to fully participate (AOL?).
etc.

I really think it would be a good idea to start a new thread with all of the above info in the OP.

Thanks, nesta…this M’Fr was pretty lucky towards the end.

Naw, just stick with this thread, even bookmark it.

  1. Log on to Pokertropolis
  2. A few hours (or at least 10 minutes…but do not wait till a couple minutes before 7pm PDT) before the scheduled 7:00pm PDT start time, click on “Tournaments” tab.
  3. Click on “Multi-Table” tab.
  4. Look for “SDMB-Private” game and click on “Signup”
  5. Click on “OK” to pay the $.60 total
  6. You will see a confirmation window…read it and then click on “OK”. You should also see a list of other players who already signed up after the confirmation window disappears.
  7. When you are logged onto PT, you will get a window popup asking you if you wish to the table…click OK
  8. Get ready for some fun.

For AOL:

  1. Log on AOL
  2. I and some other players will have you listed on our buddy list. Once you log on and we see that you entered AOL, you will get an invite from us to join the chat.
  3. Enter the chat and be prepared for “Rude” and “Grim” commentary from your SDMB brethren. Prepare to laugh, chuckle or kill kittens, or better yet, penguins.

See you next week.

If and only if you are already signed up for the game…you CAN come to the game later than the start time of 7pm PDT, but from the start you will be displayed as a “bot” (ghost) usually just putting in you blinds and folding your hands. It does this pretty slowly at first (for about the first hour), so it does save your seat for you if you are running late.

I see you have an PokerTropolis username and ID number, so you have that covered. If you have your account funded, then you should have no troubles come Thursday. I think Aholibah has been setting up the tournaments, as long as she has your info, it will be as simple as clicking on the “Signup” button under “Tournaments”> “Multi Table” like Yeti said.

Just out of curiousity, how many games will I have to play to figure out if I’m getting bad cards or if I just suck?

Hard to say. Some people claim you can play any 2 cards, some claim it’s a game you can never master. I notice that I can go through cycles of getting good cards and terrible cards all in the same night…not that having good cards means I won’t still screw up. And you can get lucky with crap and still win.

I’d just try to play every week and see how it goes. Also, some of us have been playing against each other for months.

Don’t let going out early take the wind out of your sails, hang in there!

I just thought I’d highjack this thread for this one.

Looking at my hand history, I was holding 7d Td.

We went all-in post-flop…you had the flush draw, I had a pair of Tens.

I had a set of Tens when you got the heart flush. The rest you stated is fact.

Almost the same thing happened to me. I had 6c 6d with a 4h 9h 6h on the flop. Kyy put me all in with his flush (or bluff on a flush draw) and I call. Turn was Ah, all but sealing the deal on the flush against my set, until another A comes on the river to give me a glorious suck out boat against his A high flush

Just a kindly reminder that it’s Thursday…

I’m going to try to “bot it.” I should be there on time, but might be a little late, so this seems to be the way to go. CapnBot will probably play better anyhow.

See y’all tonight.

The tournament’s already up, and I’ve just been on to customer support to make sure Oslo will be able to get in this week. I was assured that he’ll be able to sign up within the hour. Hope everybody else can make it, too. Our little game is growing!

Great! But I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it - I’m in Rita preparation mode and may have some tasks given to me.

(I’m in Austin TX right now. Went to Costco this morning, and they sold out of water in 15 minutes. Maybe 2 dozen pallets. No gas or C or D batteries, either. A million or so Houstonians are on their way here, and there isn’t a hotel room anywhere. Maybe Lubbock or Amarillo.)

I know everyone will be greatly relieved to hear that after the game I managed to dig myself out of the hole I was in over on the NL tables, and pocketed plenty more besides. Meanwhile, Yeti was engaged in digging of another kind…

Boy, I sure can’t wait for the next quarter to start.

Congrats to Robot Arm on a good showing in his early career. Heck that’s a good showing anytime.

It pains me to say it, but congrats to Nanook “Took All My Money” Of the North Shore

You shoulda stuck around. Yeti was in true form last night, he had at least one pot in triple digits. I was just shy of doubled up when he took most of MY stack (f’r!) and I finished down for the night.
